Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He lets Discard in
when she arrives, leading her to an open dressing room and closing the door so
they can talk uninterrupted
Discard: Discard respectfully follows Malcolm,
staying alert and attentive. Being what she could hope to consider a model
field operative.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Would you care
for something to eat or drink?" he asks, ever the gracious host.
Discard (dec 23): "Yeah, thanks!"
She replies, ever hungry and thirsty.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He takes some soda
from a mini-fridge and pours it for her, then pulls some snacks out, as well.
Carrot sticks, celery, some cheese and crackers and lays them out on a platter
from atop the fridge.
Discard (dec 23): Discard flounces into a
chair, making a noise of relief as she drops her hood. Her short hair fluffs
with static and stands up goofily in places, but the disshevelled look really
seems to suit her somehow.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He sets them down on
the dressing table and sits on the couch, regarding Discard. "So...what is
it you plan to do with this investigation into Trevor Dunne?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He looks her over and
smiles, genuinely appreciating her beauty.
Discard (dec 23): "I dunno Mr.
Malcolm," Discard replies. "When I first heard about kids
disappearing because of those spirals, it seemed to help a lot when I told the
important people I know like Mr. Fausto and Mr. Basoalto. When Dunne came up,
Saidah called you."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Well, I'm not
the person looking for him. And since he's been missing since 2003, I don't
really understand what you expect to accomplish with investigating him."
Discard (dec 23): "Okay," Discard
says, nodding. It doesn't seem to bother her much that she's been following a
false lead. "The stuff about him being called 'Captain Blood' and beating
on hookers and maybe kidnapping a nine year-old girl is pretty recent,
though."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He shakes his head.
"To my knowledge, that was...what he did in his off time while he was
working as my bodyguard."
Discard (dec 23): "Okay," Discard
says again, and looks up. "But somebody's looking for him. An asian guy,
dressed to the nines. Real intimidating type, possibly Triad or something. I'm
looking around because a lot of people who see as much as I do keep their
mouths shut. Sometimes the city needs somebody who isn't afraid to get caught
in the crossfire."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So..." He
takes a bottle of Perrier out of the mini-fridge and pours himself a glass,
sitting down again and regarding her. "What is it you want to know from
me?"
Discard (dec 23): "Well," Discard
says, "First and foremost I have to talk to you. Tell you what I know and
have found, where I'm going. You and my friends need to know what I'm into, so
that if I vanish you'll at least have an idea why or where if you decide to
look into it."
Discard (dec 23): "Also... I want to know
more about Trevor. I don't know much right now."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Alright,"
He nods listening intently.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods to the second
bit, waiting to hear what she has to say first.
Discard (dec 23): "What I know
about Trevor Dunne is rumor and only rumor. I haven't heard anything past what
the bums mumble and the hookers whisper to each other. And what the kids make
stories up about. I know that the hookers call him 'Captain Blood', which is
one hell of a nickname for a trade where abusive customers are a common
thing."
Discard (dec 23): "I know the face of a
girl who's been with the Cap'n and where she walks her beat. I know that there
was a little girl who disappeared. I think she was nine. A lot of people think
he had something to do with it."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods, continuing
to listen until she indicates she's finished.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) -> Discard (dec 23): (( I'm having stomach trouble so may disappear suddenly without notice ))
Discard (dec 23): "Lastly, I know that
there was a scary-looking asian guy who showed up at the cafe across from
Battery Park. He was dressed nicely and had a predatorial air. He gave Dunne's
picture and his number to the barista and said to call him if she saw the guy.
She resisted, but he looked at her hard and she capitulated. Just browbeat her like
that." She snaps. "I've got the guy's number, which I'll give to
you."
Discard (dec 23): "Saidah, Arik and
myself were all there." She thinks. "I think that's it... was there
somebody else? I forget."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) ->
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 3,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "What did the
Asian say about him?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) ->
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 8,2,1,8,6,2,5,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) ->
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 3,4,3,5,
Discard (dec 23): "Josh! Josh was there but
he left before the asian guy." She thinks, then says "he really
didn't say anything about Dunne at all. Just asked the girl to call him if she
saw the guy in the picture. We got the picture when Arik charmed her pants off.
Or would have, if he wasn't gay."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) ->
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 5,7,7,9,8,7,9,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) ->
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 5,9,8,9,8,3,2,9,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He smiles at that,
then purses his lips, considering. "Why would they be looking for him now?
It's not a secret that he's disappeared. Why would the Asian man expect anyone
to spot him?"
Discard (dec 23): "That's why I think we
should pay attention," Discard replies. "They wouldn't act if they
didn't know something we didn't. Maybe he's back. Maybe somebody new is in the
race to find him. Maybe somebody's got a lead."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He frowns, not
seeming to like the idea the guy is back in town.
Discard (dec 23): "If the guy is a hot
enough topic to have his face getting posted in cafes..." Discard says
quietly, "we might want to pay attention."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He heaves a deep
sigh, and nods. "So...what did you want to know about him?"
Discard (dec 23): "Gimme a bio if you
would, Mr. Malcolm," Discard says, sighing. "I'm a little tired of
piecing together the guy's actions without knowing who he is."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "How detailed?
I'm not sure what would be pertinent."
Discard (dec 23): "Not that detailed for
now," Discard says. "Like something you'd read in a playbill."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He frowns, pursing
his lips as he does his best to recall. "Well...you have to understand,
through most of the time I knew him, I was using pretty heavily. Heroin,
alcohol, cocaine, you name it."
Discard (dec 23): Discard nods. There's
absolutely no judgement or even opinion in that nod.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So, I may
be...mistaken on some of the facts." He looks a bit sheepish. "I know
he used to work for the Secret Police in South Africa. He was a rabid racist,
and once refused a blood transfusion because the doctor couldn't guarantee the
blood wasn't 'polluted' by colored or blacks."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "He only had one
close friend, Dirk Vanderpoel, who was in the Secret Police with him before
coming to work for my Uncle. Dirk was my Chief of SEcurity, before he was
murdered. Then his brother Jan became Chief, and then when he resigned, Trevor
took over the position."
Discard (dec 23): Discard frowns with the
effort of keeping the names straight, but nods.
Discard (dec 23): After a
moment, she pulls a beat-up notepad from the pocket of her jacket and starts
taking notes on it in a nearly illegible scrawl.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Trevor and Jan
were once very close, but after Dirk's death there was tension, and then one
day they had a row--about what, exactly, I don't know--but after that, the two
hated one another."
Discard (dec 23): Discard nods. She appears to
be drawing a diagram, though her handwriting is still absolutely impossible to
read.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Trevor was very
good at his job. I'm told he was an assassin during his time with the Secret
Police. He may also have worked as an assassin for De Witt Industries
International. I'm told my father and others employed men like Trevor to
assassinate any who threatened their monopoly on diamonds."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "I'm not
surprised the FBI has had such difficulty in locating him. He's a very hard man
to catch once one decides to look for him."
Discard (dec 23): "Makes it even more
suspicious if somebody's willing to let everybody who's eating lunch know that
he's looking for the guy," she mutters, still writing.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He takes a long pull
on his Perrier, frowning, eyes going a bit murky, his open face clouding over.
Discard (dec 23): Discard looks up at him, her
big brown eyes running across his face.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "He was a strong
leader, but quite punishing. He was incredibly loyal to his employer, and took
his obligations in that regard seriously."
Discard (dec 23): She nods again.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "His
men...respected him. They would do anything for him. Because even tho he
punished them severely when they deserved it...he also rewarded them grandly.
And he was quite...a strategist. He was committed to making sure he never lost
a man under him."
Discard (dec 23): "Mmm," Discard
responds, knitting her brow and continuing to write.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "I don't know
what specifically the Asians might hope to accomplish when they find him. I do
know that he speaks several languages."
Discard (dec 23): "I'm not gonna try to
assume," Discard replies. "I don't think we've got enough. We should
see if we can get that hooker to talk to us. She seemed willing to gab if I
gave her drugs or money for them, but the other girls will probably be
suspicious if I approach with either."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Do you want me
to hire her? So you can talk to her?"
Discard (dec 23): Discard perks up. "That's
not a bad idea, Mr. Malcolm."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods, tensing
slightly as the chainmail around his neck pinches the tender skin there.
"Alright. Right now?"
Discard (dec 23): "Probably best."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods and pulls out
a cellphone and calls for a car and driver.
Discard (dec 23): Discard waits, a little bit
excitedly.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): About fifteen minutes
later, Malc gets a call, and he goes to the backstage door and makes sure the
car is out there before exiting the club and getting into the vehicle.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: The
late model Towncar with tinted windows cruises through Times Square, heading
for the stroll where Discard met the hookers before.
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard's hood is up again,
and she tersely keeps an eye out through the window for whomever might be
there, including the hooker she had seen or those who had been with her.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: ((per+alert))
Discard [Dec. 23]: 6,4,5,8,1,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: Discard thinks she
sees the right corner, but things look much diffrent from the moving car than
they do walking. And of course you don't get the smells.
Discard [Dec. 23]: "Dag, I can't ... um,
I think that's it? Maybe? I never go anywhere by car..." she mutters
lamely.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: Malcolm takes a deep
breath, looking a bit anxious, as if he's steeling himself. He motions the
driver to cruise by the corner, and looks out, not rolling the window down.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 4,6,8,7,
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard makes herself
unobtrusive.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He spots several
girls making their stroll and points them out to Discard. "Which
one?"
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard squints, looking
for the crack whore she saw earlier.
Discard [Dec. 23]: 3,6,2,9,5,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: She's pretty sure
she's fingered the right one, especially since she's the one jonesing enough to
flaunt her wares despite the biting cold.
Discard [Dec. 23]: "That one,"
Discard says, pointing. "The strung out one there."
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 6,7,10,1,1,9,2,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: ((per+empathy if you
have it))
Nabiki: Often garbed in colorful fabrics that celebrate her heritage as
an African, Nabiki is nonetheless possessed of a quiet dignity. Her ebony skin
is only a shade lighter than her hair which stands but a quarter inch off her
skull. Athletic and graceful, the tall woman is in her mid twenties. Piercing,
amber eyes suggest an intelligent and curious nature.
Discard [Dec. 23]: 3,6,2,9,5,

Discard [Dec. 23]: 4,10,8,7,
Nabiki: Today, she's dressed in subtle
shades of gray that blend into the concrete and snow. She stands on a corner,
watching.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23] -> Discard [Dec. 23]: ((Malcolm recognizes the girl Discard has pointed out and is
~very~ apprehensive about approaching her.))
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: ((And BRB.))
Discard [Dec. 23]: Whispered. "You know
her, Mr. Malcolm?"
Discard [Dec. 23]: (( ok. Btw, Nabiki, this
scene is on the 23rd. Malcolm and Discard are in a towncar cruising down a
commonly hooker-peppered avenue. ))
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He opens his mouth,
then winces, touching his nose ring. "Yes."
Discard [Dec. 23]: "It's up to you, Mr.
Malcolm," she says.
Nabiki: ((Thank you Discard-p)) *She watches
the prostitutes, no judgement in her eyes. Her people of different views on
such things. In her country a man is ~expected~ to gift a woman before
receiving sexual favors. In this country, the tradition has been twisted and
warped into something dirty, disdainful. A gift of respect now payment for chattel.
Sometimes she thinks all Americans are crazy.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: The
Towncar cruises past the stroll. Malcolm instructs the driver to turn around
and cruise past again.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 9,1,7,10,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: This time, he spots
Nabiki, tho he's not entirely sure she's who he thinks she is.
Nabiki: 8,3,5,7,2,7,
Discard [Dec. 23]: (( tinted windows, btw ))
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He instructs the
driver to slow down. And the desperate hooker approaches. Malc makes a pained
face at the need in her every move and tells him to stop.
Nabiki: *She notices the same car pass
twice, and figures someone is scoping the goods. Could it be her quarry?*
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard looks away, half to
be unnoticeable and half out of respect for Malcolm.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 2,3,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: "See anything
you like?" the girl asks, showing no recognition of Malcolm. Just
desperate to get in out of the cold and making some money to feed her habit.
Malcolm simply says: "Five hundred. For the night."
Nabiki: *Quietly observes the exchange at
the car window.*
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 4,2,9,2,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He sees the tall
black woman watching but it's too dark for him to be sure of who it might be.
The girl looks Malc over, and then Discard, and then says "Let me see it,
first."
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He shows her a fan of
hundred dollar bills. She grins and moves to get in the car.
Nabiki: *She pushes back the hood on her
coat, wanting to make sure who ever is in that car can see her.*
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard
remains basically motionless until the car door is closed. Only then does she
relax, and venture to look over at the prostitute.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 4,5,7,1,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: Too late, he's moved
back into the car to make room for her. She settles in and says "What do I
have to do for it?" Her hand already moving up Malc's thigh to his crotch.
Nabiki: *Stays where she is, watching.*
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He leans over the
hooker and presses the button to roll the window up, taking a last glance
around. Some of the hookers recognize him and regard him with either pity,
anger, or dread.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 5,8,9,2,
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard is oblivious to all
of the reactions of the hookers, only daring to move after the window is
already up.
Nabiki: 7,5,3,9,2,8,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: And it's then he sees
Nabiki. Startled, he stops closing the window, somewhat distracted as the
hooker whose lap he's leaning over starts rubbing the growing bulge in his
pants.
Nabiki: *She takes in the reaction of the
hookers, wondering about the occassional look of pity.*
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard remains
respectfully quiet, though she glances out of the window briefly as she sees
Malcolm's surprised look.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23] -> Nabiki: ~khuear~
"What are you doing here?"
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: "Uhm...no..."
He pulls the girl's hand away from his crotch. "Please, just...sit there
for a minute. No touching."
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 9,9,
Nabiki: 4,5,6,9,8,3,
Nabiki: *Tilts her head, trying to spy who's
inside the car.*
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: "Oh my
god!" the hooker says, finally recognizing Malcolm. "You're--"
He holds his hand up to indicate she should be quiet. She nods and says
"Okay...we're cool." She seems really amused. Almost giddy.
Nabiki: *Raises her eye brows.*
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: Malcolm points to
Nabiki and makes a "C" with his hands, then points downtown.
Discard [Dec. 23]: Even Discard finds this a
bit unexpected. She looks over at Malcolm and the hooker, though she doesn't
dare make an odd face.
Nabiki: *Quirks her lips and strolls off
down the street.*
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: He finishes rolling
up the window and instructs the driver to take them back to the Concerto.
Discard [Dec. 23]: Discard is quiet, wondering
if the hooker will notice or recognize her.
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: 9,7,
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: The hooker seems to
recognize Discard, but not think much of it. "So...it's good to see you
back," she says to Malc. "You want the usual?"
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: "Uhm...No. Thank
you," Malc says to her. "Please just...wait until we get where we're
going."
Malcolm De Witt [Dec 23]: ((and back to the Concerto.
*G*))
Discard [Dec. 23]: ((woo.))
>>>>>>>>>>>Concerto<<<<<<<<<,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): The
car arrives and disgorges Discard, the Hooker, who during the ride Discard
learns is named Jelly, and Malcolm.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard has spoken as
little as she can get away with on the car ride, instead just watching
unobtrusively, never holding her gaze on either of the two. She follows mutely.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Jelly, for her part,
was only able to stay quiet for a few minutes at a time, piping up with
requests for drugs, alcohol, or simply inquiries into why Malcolm's been gone
for so long, he was one of her best customers.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): By the time they
arrive at the Back Door, Malc's both very nervous, and obviously aroused, a
fact which Jelly finds incredibly amusing. She seems to feel both oddly
maternal toward him and strangely pitying.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard has tried to keep
a neutral expression, but she is obviously quite intrigued by the peculiar dynamic
between Jelly and Malcolm. She stays fairly close, however, almost seeming
worried that the girl will try to attack her friend.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): ((Looks like we lost
nabiki))
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: (( woe ))
Nabiki: *Walks around to the back door.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He moves to the door
and unlocks it, then directs Jelly to the dressing room he was using with
Discard .
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard follows Malcolm, a
quiet, tiny bodyguard.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): And he smiles when he
sees Nabiki, motioning her inside, also. "You two girls go ahead into the
room. Start without me."
Nabiki: *Hint of a nod to Malcolm as she
walks up.*
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: She nods and walks to the
dressing room wordlessly.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So," Jelly
asksDiscard, rubbing her hands together, enjoying the warmth of being inside.
"How long have you been dancing?"
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "I don't,
actually," Discard replies serenely. "Though I would prefer it if you
didn't spread that around."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He smiles at Nabiki,
inclining his head respectfully, the chainmail collar at his throat pinching a
bit. "May I be of service?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So...what does
he pay you to do?" Jelly asks Discard, limbering up.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Scout," Discard
replies. "Which is why I want to talk to you. About Captain Blood."
Nabiki: "Perhaps. I heard Mr. Fausto
occassionally frequents this area?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Oh.
Oooooohhhh!" It takes a bit, but it clicks with Jelly. It's not clear how
she feels about making the connections.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): ((Does Nabiki go
inside so Malc can close the door, or is she talking to him outside in the
alley?))
Nabiki: ((Steps inside.))
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "You said you were
with him," Discard says. "Seemed like you knew something nobody else
did. I know it might be hard to talk about, but we would be grateful if you
could tell us more."
Damon: He
pads hopefully toward the sound of the opening door, going very still when he
sees Malcolm. His long white-blonde hair is braided tonight, tied with a simple
black chord. Wary eyes track Malcolm and the stranger. But mostly Malcolm.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Oh...well...he's
a sick fuck. You know, right?" Jelly looks at Discard. "He'll beat
you until you're sure your dying, and then fuck you rough, and then leave you
tied with the money stuffed up your cunt, to get out however you can."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Malcolm nods,
frowning at Nabiki. "Not so frequent, here." Adn then, a pause.
"I heard what happened between you."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "I hadn't gotten the
details," Discard says coolly. It doesn't seem to faze her overmuch.
"But yeah." She seems to expect the girl to go on.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "But you
know..." She shrugs. "No matter how bad he hurt me...I could always
work the next day. He hardly left a mark."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Weird," Discard
replies.
Nabiki: "Oh?"
Nabiki: 9,1,4,6,5,8,
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "I used to get him
pretty regular...I looked alot better than this a few years ago...wasn't so
skinny, you know?" Jelly looks at Discard "He liked his women to look
like women. Not all flat and skinny, like boys. Or girls."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 1,8,5,7,9,5,
Nabiki: *Glances over her shoulder.* (Unless
Damon is being particularly stealthy?)
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): 6,4,3,6,
Damon: Quiet,
but other than that, he's certainly not hidden.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He looks toward
Damon, and frowns. He obviously doesn't care much for the man's presence, but
is thorougly polite to him. "Can I help you?"
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Right," Discard
says, nodding.
Damon: "No.
I don't think so." He is equally polite to Malcolm, though he still
watches him like a potentially deadly creature that might strike at any moment.
Discard though, gets a flash of a smile.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So...you
know..." Jelly moves around the room, stopping at the mini-frige and
asking "Can Ihave something?"
Nabiki: *Turns around for a better look at
Damon, her golden eyes travelling over him.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): ((Discard and JElly
are in the dressing room. Malc and nabiki are backstage))
Damon: (Oh,
my bad. Sorry.)
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard hesitates for a
moment, then says "All right." She immediately resumes her
'interview' air. "When's the last time you saw him?"
Damon: Nabiki
he looks at with open criousity, wary certainly, but not like he looks at
Malcolm. She gets a hesitant smile.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Cool."
Jelly pulls out a few bottles, disappointed there's no booze, she settles for a
coke. She moves over and slumps into a chair. "Captian Blood?" She
considers it. "Oh...like...around Christmas of 2002. But I heard he's back
in town."
Nabiki: *His smile earns him a slow blink.
Acknowledgement.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "This is Damon.
He's one of Karlos' guest," Malc informs Nabiki. Tho he seems to 'forget'
to Damon Nabiki's name.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Me too,"
Discard replies, reiterating the statement she made before, when she was acting
much more self-effacing. "And that he might be involved with the
disappearance of a nine year-old."
Nabiki: "I see."
Damon: Damon sighs, leaning into the doorframe. "A pleasure to
meet you," he says softly to Nabiki.
Nabiki: "I'm
sure," she says with just a hint of amusement.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Jelly's fingers
twitch. "You got a cigarette? I could use a smoke." She nods and gets
up, then sits. Not really nervous as simply needing to score. "Yeah,
Booker's little girl. I heard he took her, and then like...a few weeks later he
took Sarah."
Damon: "At
moment at least, you seem to be Malcolm's guest. As he seems to have overlooked
it, might I have your name?" It's a gentle request, and hi ees, if not his
tone state he knows very well Malcolm didn't just miss that.
Nabiki: ((brb))
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Booker? Sarah?"
She asks, and waits for an explanation.
Damon: (his
eyes - on the laptop, where I miss keys)
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Yeah, you know...Booker,
that big sonovabitch who runs his girls out of that little dive on the west
side of 9th and 43rd?"
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Oh right,"
Discard replies. "Who's Sarah though?"
Nabiki: *Glances at Malcolm.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Jackie was the
little girl. She wasn't on the rack, from what I hear, but she ran errands for
him. A little Huffer. Dove knows her." She hooks her thumb through the
door toward Malcolm.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He gives Nabiki a
look.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard takes the notepad
from her jacket and quickly makes a couple of notes about Booker and where his
dive is.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23) -> Nabiki: ~kheuar~
"It is not for me to reveal your name to strangers, Akaa."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Sarah was one
of Booker's girls. She disappeared, after going off with some big Italian
sonuvabitch."
Nabiki: "Nabiki," she offers.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Some
big italian?" Discard says. "Know anything about who that was?"
Damon: He
nods to Nabiki. "A beautiful name. I'll let you get back to your
discussion. I'm sure whatever it was, it was not for my ears. Enjoy your
evening, Nabiki." His eyes fick back to Malcolm and his tone cools, though
it stays civil. "Malcolm."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): She shakes her head.
"I never seen him. But I heard down in the lower east side there's been a
few girls disappear over the year. Some big white guy with dark hair. Always
drives a car with out of state plates. Picks 'em up for rough trade and nobody
ever hears from them again."
Jeremy Thomas: He comes up to the back door,
adjusts his backpack on his right shoulder, and knocks.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods to Damon,
waving him off as if dismissing a servant.
Nabiki: Damon> "I'm sure we'll meet
again."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard scribbles on the
pad. She pauses and looks up at Jelly. "You heard anything about any
asians?"
Nabiki: ((Nabiki, Malcolm and Damon are all
standing at the back door.))
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: (( I am not long for
awake-people land. ))
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "That doesn't
sound like Captain Blood to me, tho." Jelly shakes her head. "He
never disappeared anybody. Just...hurt them and paid them good for it."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: She nods.
Jeremy Thomas: ((Oops. Somewhere, I though I
saw that it had been closed. DLP)) Or, rather, he finds it open.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): ((Yeah the back door
should be closed but Malc would open it for Jer))
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Uhm...like did
the Captain do Asians? Not that I ever heard. Strictly white meat for him."
Damon: His
eyes flash. "I can forget my pride for my friends. You've made it clear
that that is something you will not be," he says to Malcolm, voice still
soft but very cold.
Nabiki: ((Oh, sorry.
Didn't realize Damon was inside with them.))
Jeremy Thomas: ((So he knocks. *G*)) When
the door opens, he slips in, giving a greeting smile all around. "Hey,
people. S'up?"
Damon: He
nods to Nabiki. "Perhaps. I hope it is under good circumstances."
Nabiki gets warmth, and even a smile.
Nabiki: *Smiles. There's someone she hasn't
seen in some time.*
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Naw," Discard
says. "Some asian guy. Don't worry about it. Anything else I ought to
know?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Damon, you are what
you are. And Karlos can choose to trust you. But I know what you are. And while
I can hope for your recovery, I don't have to like that you are here."
Jeremy Thomas: The smiles widens when he
realizes it's Nabiki. "Hey, you. How've you been?"
Damon: "Mmmmmm...I
am what I am, indeed. Karlos is correct to trust me. He is perfectly safe from
me." Damon smiles faintly.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Uhm...oh yeah!
They say Booker tried to throw a beating on Captain Blood in Battery Park for
takign his girls, but the Captain beat him instead. This was a few months ago.
And then they say that the Captain was in some shoot out at some gaybar down in
the Lower East Side."
Damon: He
glances at Jer, but Malcolm keeps his attention. If anyone in the room is heading
for his throat, he's pretty sure it's Malcolm, and it shows.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard stares at the
girl, then scribbles in her pad. "Fistfight. Shootout, gay bar. Know which
one? Anything else?"
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Malcolm snarls at
Damon. "And quit insulting me."
Nabiki: Jer> "I've been well. It's
good to see you."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Uhm..."
She shakes her head. "Ask Dove. He'd know." Jelly again hooks her
thumb toward the backstage.
Jeremy Thomas: His attention is drawn to the
snarl, and he looks to Malcolm and Damon, concern evident on his face.
Damon: Damon
raises a eyebrow. "When did I do that?"
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Dove?"
Nabiki: *Glances at Damon and Malcolm. She
can smell the testosterone in the air.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Just now. You
act as if I'd attack you, against Karlos' wishes. I would never shame my master
by acting so willfully, and your constant wariness is an insult to me, and to
him."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Yeah,"
Jelly nods. "That redhead out there. That was he street name when he was
hustling."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "I didn't know
that," Discard says. "All right. Wait here for a few, ok Jelly?"
Nabiki: *A curious glance at Malcolm when he
says 'master'.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "Sure. He's
paying for the whole night." Jelly kicks back, chugging her coke.
Damon: For a
second the only expression in Damon's eyes is blank incomprehension, but then
he relaxes marginally. "I see." He cannot believe that, but it does
seem, at least for now, to calm him a little.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Right," Discard
says, pocketing her pad full of notes (( that her player has already forgotten
many of =_= )) and pushing through the door out into the hallway.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): The signs are pretty
obvious to Nabiki now that she's looking: He has an exquisitely crafted gold
nose ring through his septum in the shape of a rattlesnake biting it’s tail, a
gilt contrast to the deep copper of his goatee. Around his neck, rising above
his shirt collar, is a four-row chain mail choker of white gold, studded
occasionally with gold roses.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Malcolm glances
toward the dressing room door when it opens, smiling at Discard to indicate
he's not angry with her.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard pauses several
steps down the hall, seeing a strange woman, Malcolm, and ... Damon. The girl
stops in her tracks, silent.
Nabiki: *Glances back at Discard as she
exits from a door up the hallway.*
Jeremy Thomas: He stands there quietly,
watching the interactions. Ready to step in and be the cooler head if anything
goes bad.
Jeremy Thomas: ((And Jeremy! Don't forget
him! *S*))
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Oh right! And some other
guy.
Damon: He
turns to see who is behind him and goes still again. "Hi," he says softly,
voice all warmth again when he recognises Discard.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Hey," Discard
responds, her voice... apprehensive, but there is warmth there too.
Jeremy Thomas: He glances down the hall to
Discard, and offers her a small smile, recognizing her.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: She smiles to Jeremy,
faint recognition in her face. "Um, so." She turns back to Malcolm.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): Malcolm looks at
Discard, his expression questioning, a bit apprehensive.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "I have... more leads,"
she says.
Damon: He
glaces back at the room in general, and then to Discard. "Right...I'm in
your way." He steps into the room, and to the side, so Disard can get in
without brusing into him on her way through the door.
Nabiki: *Silently observing.*
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): HE nods to her.
"Did you want me to step into the office an discuss it with you?"
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "You seem busy,"
Discard says hesitantly. "I can report to you tomorrow..."
Jeremy Thomas: Right alongside Nabiki, and
doing the same as her, to boot.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods to her.
"That might be better."
Damon: He
looks curiously at Discard. "Things I'm working on?" He asks softly.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He shakes his head
emphatically. "This has nothing to do with you."
Nabiki: *Gives Discard a slight nod,
acknowledging her presence.*
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: Discard nods, and her eyes
dart back and forth. "Right," she says. "I'm gonna head out,
then. Uhm, Jelly will be in the dressing room until you tell her to do
something else."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: To Damon. "No... this
is something else."
Damon: He
nods to Discard. "Okay. Goodnight. It was wonderful to see again, even
quickly."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods to Discard,
smiling. "Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow."
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: "Yes," she says
to Damon. "Sometime we should talk again." She then nods to Malcolm
respectfully. "Thanks for your help, Mr. Malcolm." She leaves the
concerto quickly, unobtruvisely slipping between Jeremy and Nabiki.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: (( Goodnight everybody --
*conks out* ))
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He opens the door to
admit her to the alley after checking all the monitors to ensure the coast is
clear.
Discard [ Dec 23 ]: (( Thank you for the RP ))
Nabiki: *Watches the girl depart, then looks
at those remaining.*
Nabiki: ((Night Discard))
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He then pulls out his
phone and calls for the car again, moving to the dressign room to escort Jelly
the hooker out to the waiting vehicle, thanking her for her time and wishingher
a merry christmas, handing her $500
Jeremy Thomas: ((Night!!))
Damon: He
smiles a little, when Discard says they should talk, a surprised, pleased
smile.
Jeremy Thomas: With Malcolm gone, he nods to
the guy he doesn't know in greeting, and looks to Nabiki, smiling a little.
"So, anyway...I've been good. Same old, same old. You know."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): With Jelly on her
way, he returns his attention to the others. "Jeremy, I trust you know Damon?"
Damon: He
nods to Jeremy reflexively, moving back to the doorway.
Jeremy Thomas: He shakes his head at Malc.
"We haven't met, no." He smiles to Damon. "Hi. I'm Jeremy, or
Dream, if you prefer."
Nabiki: *Smiles a little at Jer's comment,
because the same ol' is never the same ol'.* "I know what you mean."
Damon: He
blinks at Jeremy. "Dream?" He asks, curiousity creeping back.
"That must be some story." It's enough to stop his slow retreat.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): "So...Nabiki,
what is it you'd like me to help you with?"
Nabiki: ((Is sleepy.)) Malc>
"Perhaps you'll be available tomorrow?"
Jeremy Thomas: He grins a little, and shakes
his head. "Not really, no. I lived on the streets of Portland for a while.
That was my street name...I'm a Neil Gaiman fan, and a bit of a dreamer."
He shrugs. "Anyway, my..." He pauses for a momentm then continues.
"Someone who helped me find my place decided it fit. So there you have
it."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): He nods to her.
"Certainly."
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): ((is sleepy too.
*G*))
Damon: "Neal
Gaiman?" Ohhhhhhh...more and more curious by the second.
Malcolm De Witt (dec 23): HE shows Nabiki out
and then remains while Jer and Damon chat, escorting Jer outside when he's
finished. (and that's it for me, thanks for the RP)
Damon: (That makes three of us. *chuckle*)
Nabiki: "Good to see you Jeremy, we
should talk some time soon. Damon. *nods* Malc> "I'll look for you here
around nine."
Jeremy Thomas: He nods. "Neil Gaiman.
An author. Did a comic book seires called 'The Sandman'...amazing stuff, most
detailed and better-written then most books I've read. The main character is
Dream."
Jeremy Thomas: He nods to Nabiki. "See
you soon."
Damon: "Right.
I'll have to...see those." He smiles, then glances at Malc and back to
Jeremy. "I was leaving awhile ago. I should do that now."
Jeremy Thomas: He shrugs, and nods to Damon.
"All right, well...it was nice to meet you, Damon."
Damon: "My
pleasure." Damon smiles and slips back toward the dressing rooms.
Jeremy Thomas: He heads out the door with
Malcolm, and takes off. He can check in another time.
: (And I'm out. Night. Great to play with you
again.)
