David Poe: So David is going to be trying to get in touch with Michelle but at this time he does not have any way to contact her and he does not really trust going through other people that he knows by telephone.
Michelle Morgan: She's a pretty well-known celebrity...he can always catch her at WLIB, Air America's studios, though I know that would be like walking into the den of wolves for him. :)
David Poe: Actualy if she takes calls at her show was going to have him call in and try to speak in code to her. *S*
Michelle Morgan: That could work, too. Yeah, she takes calls on her show. :)
Michelle Morgan: You wanna RP that out, for grins, or just summarize? Could be fun for IC interaction, but it's kinda of superfluous potentially, too.
David Poe: Well whatever the topic of the day is he will lie to the screener to try to get through and he will use a public phone just incase. I am fine with roleplaying it or just summarizing.
Michelle Morgan: The perfect thing in this is that I was planning on having Michelle
start to use her radio show to send out messages in code to get information out
to the Trads, so it's absolutely beautiful in terms of kismet. :)
Let's RP it. This could be fun in terms of the conversation, Michelle & David
being who they are. :) The topic of the day is the fact that Iraqi security
forces caught Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, and
accidentally let him go in Apriil because they didn't know who he was.
So the screener asks for his name, and what he'd like to talk about.
David Poe: " Yes my name is Allan P. Edgar and and my old squad leader Dave Raven is with the third Marines in Mosul and he was working with the ING that evening that Zaquari's laptop was recovered. I want to talk about the incompatence of the Iraqi National Guard. "
Michelle Morgan: "All right, hold for just a moment, we have one caller up, and then
you're on." David gets to listen over the phone to the show, and the caller
who's arguing that it's the US Armed Forces soldier's fault, as they were the
people who took the hospital Zarqawi was staying at. Michelle argues that it's
not the Armed Forces' fault at all, as they weren't the ones in the know about
Zarqawi's identity. The caller gets a little belligerant, but Michelle kind of
cuts him off, makes her point, and moves on, as David hears the line pick up.
"Allen, you're on the air with the Anti-Spin."
David Poe: " Hi Michelle. How's it going? " * Long pause... * " Um, Iam a first time caller but I have been listening since I got back from the sandbox. I was with the third Marines and was in the area of operations during the incident that you guys are talking about. The ISF dropped the ball big time."
Michelle Morgan: Int+Alert (Recognize Voice): d10: : 9,5,4,2,2, A brief pause, not noticable really to those who didn't know...recognition perhaps? "Okay, Allen. How do you figure?"
David Poe: " Well let me tell you this. You remember that stupid card deck that we were handing out to all of the troops over there? The fifty two most wanted? Well the interim goverment did the same thing for there guys after last years vote. Abu was one of the aces. Plus everyone over there has heard the guys voice. The thing is that he does not speak english and he is Jordanian. Now no matter what the guy looks like he is going to sound like a Jordanian when he speaks. Its an Accent thing. My Squad leader there was Dave Raven, and he was there when they found the guys car on the highway one loop and one of the Guardsmen tried to steal it before our intel guys could look at it. Half of the ISF is corrupt and the other half is still in training. "
Michelle Morgan: "Okay." She has just the slightest hint of amusement in her voice, though it's a mere trickle through the seriousness in her tone. "I can see where you're coming from. I'll disagree with you about half being corrupt and half being in training...they make mistakes, sure. But they're trying. The problem is that the old government really ~was~ corrupt...the ISF is trying to change things. Yes, there's going to be mistakes, and there's going to be drastic ones, from time to time. But they're trying to accomplish something important, something worth fighting for...control over their own country, and the liberty that our government promised them for so long. And they are coming up with their own plans, trying to change the way that things fly compared to the ways that were impressed upon them...things that just weren't working."
David Poe: " Well I will give you this. The Iraqi people are starting to really turn on the insurgents. They have one of those crime stopper numbers and the calls to that thing are way up. Nobody will leave their name of course because they are still afraid that the person listening to it might be on the take, but they are trying to do the right thing. Until they really trust their own people though this is never going to end. Thats all that I am saying. Do I have time for a quick, unrelated question? If someone else has been waiting for a long time I understand and I will call back another time. "
Michelle Morgan: "No, by all means, Allen...feel free."
David Poe: " Okay, do you really think that this country is really ready for a movie like Brokeback Mountain? I was planing to go check out the late show with my girlfriend down at the Roxy theatre tommorow night but I dont want to have a bunch of homophobes jump me afterwards. "
Michelle Morgan: "Absolutely. I think Brokeback Mountain is exactly what needs to make it's way to the screen. A quality move about a such a non-standard relationship in a setting as standard to Hollywood as the Old West will really be an opportunity to break new ground and make some serious progress. If I were you, I'd definitely go and check it out tomorrow night. I think you'll be in for an eye-opening experience."
David Poe: " Yeah I am going too. Probably hit the latest show and sit in the back incase anybody decides to talk through the movie. I hate that. Well thanks for hearing me out and I love the show. "
Michelle Morgan: "Good to know, Allen. Thanks for calling...hope you enjoy the show."
David Poe: * Fade*
