Eugenia Phelps: After a day of work and subsequent shopping, Felisa is taking a break by relaxing in a restaurant. It's a nice, Cajun restaurant. She just feels like trying something new.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Her various purchases are resting nearby her and she's perusing the menu for the moment.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Deciding on a dish, she looks up and her waiter appears. She orders a salad first, followed by a crawfish dish, and she's considering dessert. In the meantime, a cocktail is in order.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Her cocktail comes first and she thoughtfully sips as she listens to the jazz wafting through the air.

Low: Hey you *Waves*

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She leans back in her chair, taking periodic sips and glancing for the door as if expecting company at any moment, though knowing that it is unlikely.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She hums a little before beaming as her salad arrives. She softly thanks the waiter before diving in to her food.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She takes her time with her salad, not really wanting to rush since she has absolutely nothing to do during the evening. Perhaps she should go out drinking later..as soon as she's found somewhere to stash her bags of new clothes.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Taking a sip of water, she leans to peer into one of the bags, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. She is glad she'd had the foresight to put the Victoria's Secret bags into other less..colorful bags.

Low: Oh, people. ((Don't mind me, I was just jawing)

Low: Er... I'll poof to the OOC room. :-P

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She leans back in her chair, water in hand while she waits for her salad plate to be removed and her entree to arrive.

Jarod Freeman: He steps into the restaraunt, head twisting to either side, neck popping. He's dressed in the usual...the turtleneck, the trench coat, the jeans and the boots. He runs a hand through his platinum blonde hair, looking around as he moves past the front door.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: d10: per+alert: 7,3,1,2,

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Nia is oblivious as she waits for her food to arrive, still humming a little.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Her entree arrives and she begins to delicately eat, making happy little noises. She does like the taste of food.

Jarod Freeman: He smiles a bit as he sees Nia, and makes his way over to her table. "Hey, you."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: The fork pauses midway between plate and mouth and she lifts her head to give Jarod a sunny smile. "Hello! How are you?"

Jarod Freeman: "I'm okay. How about yourself?" He looks tired as usual, but he's smiling openly, in that semi-rogueish, charming way he can have when he's around others. He moves up to her table, gesturing to the seat across from her. "Do you mind if I join you, Nia? Figure two heads are better then one, even when it's just sitting down to eat."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Please do. Eating alone is rather dreadful in my estimation. Pull up a chair and don't mind the bags of stuff. I went shopping after work." She laughs softly with a helpless shrug. "I'm doing well otherwise, I suppose."

Jarod Freeman: "Shopping...anything good?" He grins a little bit and takes a seat in the chair, leaning back as he watches her. "And you only suppose? What's up?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I got a few interesting things." A vague gesture toward the bags and a faint blush before she smiles at him. "Oh, I have been just been doing a lot of thinking, that's all." A soft sigh as the smile begins to fade. "Do you ever get the feeling that you're meant for something greater, but you just don't know how to get there?"

Jarod Freeman: "Often." He nods a little, eyebrow quirking, and eyes going slightly up and to the left...memories accessed, bringing a faint flash of pain to his face. "Anything in particular?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She says nothing, merely offers up a graceful shrug in response. "I just...I feel like I should be doing more, but I don't know where to begin."

Jarod Freeman: He leans forward, resting his forearms on the table...a motion intended to bring about a futher sense of closeness in the conversation...intimacy, though certainly not sexual. "In what sense?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "It's difficult to explain." She picks up her fork to eat a few more bites of food. "I know I'm unique and I know I have things I can offer the world, but..." Her voice trails before her mouth is otherwise occupied.

Jarod Freeman: He nods. "I understand...I very much do, Nia. I was the same way, not so long ago. It...fairly tore me up." He looks at her, giving an empathetic smile. "What kinds of things can you offer? Maybe I can help direct you."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear and a faint flush colors her cheeks. "Well, I am...good with people and getting them what they want."

Jarod Freeman: "I know the feeling..." He smiles a little. "You're empathic. You like to help people."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Yes, I do. I just like making people happy and helping them achieve their goals and, if I can, inspire them to find the best within themselves."

Jarod Freeman: His brow quirks a little bit, and a strange sort of smile comes to his face. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Those are very good goals to have...not so different from my own."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Her head tilts to the side as she studies his face. "Is that right?"

Jarod Freeman: He mentally calls upon the Word, to help him judge the woman's reactions better.

Jarod Freeman: d10: Read Emotion: 5,9,6,6,4,10,3,

Jarod Freeman: ((Awareness roll.))

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: d10: per+awareness: 4,10,3,8,

Jarod Freeman -> Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: Something funky! From the Jarod! Seems familiar to her...like something she knows how to do. :)

Jarod Freeman: Unwaware that he's triggered her senses, he watches her, her face and reactions.

Jarod Freeman: d10: Per+Empathy: 6,3,6,1,5,1,3,

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She peers at Jarod for a moment, both eyebrows lifting. "If you want to know how I'm feeling, you could merely ask." Her words are soft and sweet.

Jarod Freeman: He opens his mouth and then stops, raising an eyebrow. Curious.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She gives him a look. "Well, wasn't that what you were just trying to do? Figure out how I was feeling?"

Jarod Freeman: "Yes, it was." He tilts his head to the side...did she pick up on his facial reactions, or more? "How did you notice?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I just had a feeling, is all.." She tries to be as vague as she can while still giving him a hint.

Jarod Freeman: "Really." He leans back in his chair, watching her with a curious little half-smile. "Get these feelings often?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Every now and again, I get the feeling that something odd is going on." She continues eating her meal, not wanting it to get cold.

Jarod Freeman: "I get those feelings a lot, too." He leans back, sipping at the water and still watching her. "More and more, these days, it seems."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Are you going to order anything?" A slight shift in conversation. "I was thinking of ordering dessert..and maybe, afterwards, we can go elsewhere to discuss this?"

Jarod Freeman: "That would be a good idea," he answers, smiling and nodding a little. He grabs the dessert menu and looks it over.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "So, do you happen to know any single men who aren't gay?" It may seem out of the blue, but it really isn't.

Jarod Freeman: "Single men who aren't gay..." He sighs, thinking about it. "A few, I think. It is a bit of a rarity here in New York sometimes, it seems. Do you want the non-psychotic breed, I assume?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "That would be preferable. I've found it decidedly difficult to find...company of that sort."

Jarod Freeman: "Yeah, it's not often you find Masculinus Heterus Sanicus outside of captivity here in New York. I believe they're on the endangered species list. Mostly, they're kept on display by their handlers so they don't wander around aimlessly, attacking passer-bys." He grins.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Oh, thank you." She smiles at that. "So, what dessert are you thinking of?"

Jarod Freeman: "I don't know..." He looks it over a moment. "I'm thinking perhaps the bread pudding. You know if it's any good here?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I've heard it's highly recommended. I've always been fond of bread pudding..I think." She shrugs and gives him a smile.

Jarod Freeman: "Awesome." He nods. "Then it's decided." When the waitress comes by, that is exactly what he orders, giving the restaraunt worker a warm smile as he does so.

Lurkette: (open?)

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Yay." She grins and hands her finished entree to the waitress before picking up her water for a sip.

Jarod Freeman: ((Yeah, though they're going to be moving to a private scene soon.))

Lurkette: ((kk, nm then))

Jarod Freeman: He smiles once more to the waitress before she leaves, and looks back to Nia. "How's Felisa doing, by the way? Sorry I had to go the other night...things came up."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "She's doing well." She laughs a little. "You missed all of the fun at the club."

Jarod Freeman: "Oh?" He quirks a curious brow, still smiling. "What happened?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Felisa explained fisting to me in a way that made it sound like a demented episode of 'Sesame Street' and I danced with a sexy woman who wants to have sex with me and she pulled me toward this cuddle pile of men who were likely gay or bisexual. I decided not to join them and went home instead. It was all very strange and..enlightening." She blushes and takes a sip of water, the fisting muppet nightmare memories filling her mind briefly.

Jarod Freeman: He blinks, a sort of surprised laugh coming. "Fisting Sesame Street, lesbians, and cuddle piles? No wonder you're looking for straight men. I'd be mightily confused, too."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She laughs softly. "Yes, straight men would make more sense to me right now."

Jarod Freeman: "I would imagine so." He chuckles a little bit, leaning forward. "One of these nights, I'll treat you to a regular club. I didn't know the Limelight was that...up front."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I would like to go clubbing again. I like dancing, I've found." She smiles a little, taking another sip of water.

Jarod Freeman: He nods, smiling. "Me, too. Being out on the dance floor...or just around music in general...makes me feel more alive. Part of what I live for, really." He speaks about it quite literally, as if music is truly something that keeps him going, that he would have difficulty going on without it.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She nods understandingly. "I just love the movement, the freedom, the sensation.." Her voice trails as their warm bread pudding arrives.

LRM: Is this open, kiddos? :-)

Jarod Freeman: ((It is open, though they're going to be moving to a private scene soon.))

LRM: Ah, I won't interrupt. Have fun you quazy kids.

Jarod Freeman: ((*Hugs the LRM*)) "Yeah, that, too." He nods in complete agreement, and smiles to the waitress. As the dessert is set down, he picks up a spoon and starts to eat.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She picks up her spoon as well, smiling as she takes the first bite. "Mm..this is..mm.." She can't find words to describe it.

Jarod Freeman: "Damn good," he finishes for her. "No argument here."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I'm glad you agree." She grins and takes another bite, trying not to be greedy. "I need to come here more often."

Jarod Freeman: "Yeah, no kidding." He looks up at her with a small smile. "It's amazing the things you can find out when you take a random stroll through the restaraunts of this city, eh?"

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "That's quite true." She laughs a little, shifting a bit on her chair. "I've gone to a bunch of different places since I came to the city."

Jarod Freeman: He nods. "Glad it's working out for you."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Me too." She takes a final bite of the bread pudding, licking her spoon clean of the gooey goodness.

Jarod Freeman: He finishes his up and pushes the plate aside, sighing. "Well...now that we're full of sugary goodness, let's go bounce off somewhere to talk, if you don't mind." He goes for his wallet to pay.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "I don't mind at all and..are you intending to pay for my meal though you only ate the bread pudding?" She's reaching for her purse and her wallet.

Jarod Freeman: "I don't mind doing so," he says with a shrug. "But if you're insistant on paying, far be it from me to stand in your way."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Well, if you want to pay.." She doesn't want to get in any sort of confrontation or anything. And she just spent a lot of money on clothes. So, she puts her purse down.

Jarod Freeman: He smiles warmly and pulls out a credit card to cover it all, handing it to the waitress.

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: [Connection died]

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: She grins at him. "So, where are we going from here?"

Jarod Freeman: "I'm thinking...you and me are fans of rooftops...I know of a very pleasant one, if you're comfortable with that. Otherwise, my home's out, I'm afraid. I know of an old club we can go to."

Eugenia Phelps [Cajun Restaurant]: "Wherever you want to go, I'll follow." She chuckles and smoothes her hair back with a hand. "The club may be a better option so I don't have to worry about dropping my stuff off the edge of a building."

Jarod Freeman: "Perfect." The credit card slip comes back and is signed, and he rises, to escort her out.

VERTIGO

Eugenia Phelps: With all of her parcels in hand, she's just following along whereever Jarod leads her. She's trusting like that.

Jarod Freeman: Jarod takes Eugenia uptown, just before they hit Harlem. An old-looking club, called the Vertigo. Eugenia, if she reads the papers, may recall the name of the place, as it belonged to Mayoral Assistant Collin Anderson, who went missing in September of last year and was never found. The place is boarded up, but Jarod takes her around the back, pushing the door open and entering.

Eugenia Phelps: She looks around. "Interesting." Chewing on her bottom lip in thought, she glances over at him. "Come here often?"

Jarod Freeman: "Only when I need to have private conversations." He steps into the main bar...looks like whoever closed up didn't clean out at all. The alcohol is even behind the bar still. "Something to drink?"

Eugenia Phelps: "Um, sure..anything, I'm not too terribly picky." She pauses and ammends that statement. "I'm not that fond of vodka, though..bad memories."

Jarod Freeman: "No problem." He moves behind the bar to pour a couple of drinks...selecting a brandy for them both. He pours the amber liquid into the glasses and goes to slide one over to her. "So."

Eugenia Phelps: "So." She takes the glass after setting down her parcels, lifting it for a sip. "The brandy's not bad." She slides onto a stool.

Eugenia Phelps: [*trying to stab her nick into place*]

Jarod Freeman: "No, it's not." He shakes his head with a chuckle. "So, onto the whole bit about picking up strange things from time to time. This something that comes naturally to you, as it does me?"

Eugenia Phelps: "Yes, it does." She concedes as she swirls the amber liquid in the glass.

Jarod Freeman: "I know of only two ways, personally, that people tend to have that ability. Either you're a sorceror, or you're a Fallen." Stated plainly. Might as well.

Eugenia Phelps: "I don't consider myself as having Fallen as much as I tripped." She's very clear about that fact.

Jarod Freeman: "Ahh." He nods. The points been made. "Fair enough...I think tripped is a decent enough explanation. I tripped, too." He leans over the bar, extending a hand. "Melioth."

Jarod Freeman -> Eugenia Phelps: You can toll Int+Legacy to see what you remember about Melioth.

Eugenia Phelps: d10: int+legacy: 4,3,5,2,5,

Eugenia Phelps: [Wow, that roll sucked.] She takes the offered hand, giving it a shake. "Emariel." She looks so at ease and happy to meet someone just like her.

Jarod Freeman: d10: Int+Legacy: 5,2,6,2,

Jarod Freeman: He nods a little bit, smiling. "Good to meet you, Emariel. You'll have to forgive me, I'm a little sketchy on details...sometimes I remember people quite well...other times, not so much."

Eugenia Phelps: "Me too." She laughs nervously before taking another sip of brandy. "How many of us are here in the city?"

Jarod Freeman: "That I know of? There's thirteen of us...you make fourteen. Separated between two Courts."

Eugenia Phelps: "Oh?" She leans forward, resting her elbows on the counter.

Jarod Freeman: "Yeah. I'm actually heading up one, and a Devil by the Host name of Thomas Judge is heading up the other."

Eugenia Phelps: She nods a little. "What are you?" Head cocks to the side. "And I think I've met this Thomas Judge. He has a woman attached at his hip."

Jarod Freeman: "I'm of the fifth House. Nereid, Defiler, Ishhara. Whichever you prefer to use."

Eugenia Phelps: "Like myself." She nods with a broad smile. "I am glad to meet you. I was remiss in meeting other Fallen when I was in my first vessel."

Jarod Freeman: "This isn't your first?" He raises an eyebrow. "What happened there?"

Eugenia Phelps: "She died." Her eyes lower and she shrugs. "She was, well, elderly. Over eighty-five."

Jarod Freeman: "Ahh." He nods a little bit. "Sorry to hear that. Glad to see you're still around."

Eugenia Phelps: "Me too. It was a close one, there. Coincidentally, my first vessel died when Eugenia went over the edge.." There's a brief look of pain and she downs the rest of her brandy.

Eugenia Phelps: "She was staying at the hotel where I work."

Jarod Freeman: "Sorry to hear that," he answers gently. He takes a breath, and leans against the bar. "So. How much do you remember, and how much is fuzzy?"

Eugenia Phelps: "I remember a good bit. There are patches I've forgotten, though, and I'm sure that it's probably a good thing." She toys with her empty glass, giving him a gentle look. "How much do you remember?"

Jarod Freeman: "A good amount myself." He nods. "Sketchy on some details, some events. Certain things. But I've got a good recollection."

Eugenia Phelps: She nods a little, moving her hands away from the glass so she can play with her hair. It's something less fragile to fidget with. "So, what do you do now?"

Jarod Freeman: "Like I said before...actor. Singer. And head of one of the local Courts. Trying to track down an Earthbound problem, among other things. And get us organized."

Eugenia Phelps: "What..philosophy would you say you follow?" She's unbraiding and rebraiding her hair as she speaks.

Jarod Freeman: "I came out of the Pit Faustian...but these days, I'm more of a Reconciler."

Eugenia Phelps: A slow smile spreads over her face. "I came out of the Pit Reconciler..and haven't changed my mind since."

Jarod Freeman: He smiles to that. "Good to find another one." He nods a little. "So, allow me to fill you in. What would you like to know?"
