Susannah Chinwe: *The girl appears to be in her
early twenties, a lovely rich cocoa color to her skin. There are laugh lines to
her face, though, and age marks that should not be visible on someone her age. A
street rat whose face speaks of experiences she shouldn't have. From her dark,
soulful brown eyes to the thickly braided black hair, trapped beneath a
large-brimmed straw hat, to the dirty pale-blue dress, adorned with sunflowers,
nothing about this girl is what is expected. Her sandaled feet seem out of
climate for anywhere within the city, no fear of broken glass on her smiling
face.* http://www.wodnyc.net/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=1&pos=107
Susannah Chinwe: *The slight breeze from
the ferry causes her hat to move, and she grips to the brim of it. HEr eyes
wide, and eternally bright. She stays away from the edge of the boat, however,
instead choosing to sit cross-legged near the middle. Not near the cars, either.
She remains almost... well... small.*

woman, and rather looks the part. She has short cut brown hair, and dark eyes,

though she’s also not ugly…just average. She walks around wearing a skirt that

Laurel Hensley: She's leaning on the edge
of the Ferry, watching the watter go by with a soft smile. The girl is best
described as "cute"...the all-American girl next door sort. Tall and thin, with
shoulder-length, dark chestnut hair and cool blue eyes, one would imagine that
if she gave a big, bright smile, she'd light up the room, and then some.
However, she doesn't much seem to be the type to give those wide smiles...her
expressions are a bit more muted, softer. A pair of simple, unadorned glasses
rest on her nose. The rest of her is fit, and well-proportioned
enough...certainly not so much to be voluptuous. More athletic, though she seems
to have a more scholarly look to her then a sporty look. She gives off a general
feeling of being quite approachable, even if there is a keener, more discerning
look in her eyes.
Susannah Chinwe: ((Ack... sorry, Laurel-p
about the rush job to get off the Ferry... Keiko was going for a walk, so I
figured we'd meet there. *wince*))
Laurel Hensley: ((It's cool...I can deal.
:) Just put my post before yours. I'm flexible like that.))
Blind: The sky
being over cast most people seem to be walking to somewhere, but not in the
normal bustle of the streets, there's something a little calmer about sunday.
none the less few people seem keen on letting the threat of showers catch them
off gaurd.
Susannah Chinwe: *She smiles brightly,
too, as she takes a look around, her sandals flopping against the flats of her
feet. With her, she holds a card table, folded, the handle in her hand. She
ponders for a moment, and reaches into the pocket of her dirty sundress.*
Keiko Moroboshi: *Keiko's going at a leisurely pace,
the sort of walk one takes to clear their head. She happens to have, in her
wandering, approached the ferry, though she's not heading off of the island yet*
Laurel Hensley: She nods to the Ferry
staff, giving them a slight smile, and pays before slipping off the Ferry to
touch her feet on land. A last, fond look back to the water, and she starts
moving along, looking around as she does. And she certainly doesn't mind the
idea of a shower. Little storm never hurt anyone...oh. Wait. Well, not most.
Susannah Chinwe: *She stops, and looks up
to the sky, pulling out half a cigar, remaining, and shoves it between her lips.
The small lighter, too, follows. A cheap thing, probably gotten from a novelty
store or dropped on the street. She manages to get the old thing flaming, at the
very least, and the smile remains.* Oh! I'm sorry, honey, *she offers
pleasantly, as she stops in front of some poor person.*

pauses briefly, watching her as her lower lip catches lightly in her teeth.
Susannah Chinwe: *She looks fascinated by
Staten Island, as if seeing it for the first time. She smokes, quite cheerily.
Horrid-smelling thing.*
Keiko Moroboshi: *she pauses a bit near the
Ferry, and looks around to see if there's anything of immediate interest, but
alas, no, there is no one she knows, so after a moment, she begins walking
again*
Laurel Hensley: She takes a deep breath,
and with a brief look to Susannah and a little smile, she starts to walk toward
Keiko. The canvas backpack over her left shoulder is shifted to sit better as
she picks up the pace. "Keiko."
Susannah Chinwe: *She beams, seeing
people. It seems she rather enjoys the peope around. So fascinating. Like ants
in a large experiment. She walks off of the pier, finally, and drops the dead
cigar butt to the ground to crush it out. She does not pick it up.*
Keiko Moroboshi: *she stops upon hearing her name,
and looks to see who it is...no recognition, and she's quite evidently a little
confused* "Yes?"
Laurel Hensley: She stops up short, a few
feet back, and reaches up to absently adjust the glasses on her face. "I...hey."
She offers a faint smile. "I'm Laurel...uh, Laurel Hensley. You know--knew--my
cousin. Jarod." She smiles a little bit, and focuses herself to do a little
change. Just something Keiko would be able to see...an eye color change. Brown
to Blue.

Susannah Chinwe: *All senses blind, she
unfolds her card table, and sets it up near the docks. She pulls out her pack of
cards, and begins setting up her favorite game.*
Blind: A few rain
drops splash down, hardly noticable yet.
A young man in his late teens walks up to Susannah's table aas she starts to set
out the game, watching curiously. he has a slight stubble and short hair both a
dark brown in colour. He wears a leather jacket and a pair of jeans with ripped
knees. the shirt he wears is white but stained with browns. He wears blue
trainers. He's not much to look at really, a young man from a rough neigbourhood.
Susannah Chinwe: *She smiles faintly as
her first vict... err... first customer comes up.* Hey, there, honey, *she
offers.* Can I help you?
Laurel Hensley: Her smile widens just a
little bit, and she nods. "Nice to meet you too." The raindrops land on her, and
she smiles a little bit more, even. The girl is not one to mind the rain, at
all. "How are you?"
Keiko Moroboshi: *she's silent a moment, trying to
actually place words on her thoughts...* "I suppose the best way to put it
is...bored. Feels odd to say that after waiting days for something to
happen...especially considering how long I've had to wait for things in the
past...how about you? Umm...adjusting well?"
Blind: "just
working out the game, don't mind me." he says watching the cards very carefully.
not looking up as he speaks to her.
Susannah Chinwe: *She smiles faintly, and
puts three cards on the table, with the slight fold. She moves them around.*
Mmmh? Ohh, nothin' to work out, child. Unlike... others, I tend to rely on my
own luck. don't need much, just enough to get by, but I'm earnin' my keep, you
know? *She cants her head.*
Laurel Hensley: "So far, yes." She reaches
up and curls a lock of hair behind her ear as her eyes look to the ground,
fading back to cool blue as they do. "It's...very confusing. I'd forgotten about
how confusing it is. But so far, so good."
Keiko Moroboshi: *she nods* "I hope I can avoid
having to do it again for some time." *she looks as though she's about to say
something, else, but changes her mind...that old habit of hers*
Blind: "Of course
you do, an honest dealer." he rolls his eyes "I'm not that easy to con lady."
Susannah Chinwe: *She grins.* I know
you're not, *she says, and she seems to mean it.* Auntie wouldn't trick you
though, honey. It's not my style. If I win... I win. And I eat. And that's
progress. If I lose, I lose. And I do not eat. And that's still progress. Yours.
Yeah?
Laurel Hensley: She looks at Keiko and
grins just a bit. A hint of the man who she was in that expression. "Still
censoring yourself? You shouldn't. I'd like to hear what you have to say, not
just see you about to say it."
Blind: He shakes
his head "Not mine, some one elses." He turns and looks around, obviously
waiting for something or someone. sitting down on the curb near Susannah when it
isn't there.
Keiko Moroboshi: "It is how I am..." *she blushes
slightly* "...I was about to say, though, that Tom and Victor are looking for
Jarod's killer. Somehow the two are managing to work in concert, if not
completely together."
Susannah Chinwe: *And the shocker of
shockers... her smile turns into a frown, as she watches him. She breathes
slowly, and watches, gagues how to respond.*
Laurel Hensley: "They're wasting their
time," she says with a slight shrug, surprisingly apathetic about the idea.
"They've got more important things to worry about."

an eyebrow as if looking for the catch, but he shrugs "Go on then." he glances
aroud once more before getting to his feet and watching the cards, though his
attention seems a little less for them now.
Laurel Hensley: She glances over at
Susannah suddenly, whatever she was going to say cut off completely. She goes
silent, watching the girl.

dexterous, if dirty and calloused hands.*

Laurel Hensley: "Hmm." She pushes the
glasses back up on her nose and looks back to Susannah.

around again, stopping at keiko and Laurel for a moment before something seems
to catch his attention, he starts to head off in that direction.
Susannah Chinwe: *She watches him, and
again, frowns. For the second time in what is a very, very long time.*
Laurel Hensley: "Shall we go say hello?"
she murmurs to Keiko.
Keiko Moroboshi: "I am going to follow the boy...I
have encountered him before. Not one of us...but..." *shakes her head, can't

kind of assuming the latter. The Devil wasn't one to hate the spotlight.
Keiko Moroboshi: "I think the former. At least,
based on what I've heard and been told."
Laurel Hensley: "Interesting." her brow
furrows, thinking about this. A concerned look on her face as she takes a drag
of smoke, and her glasses slip forward on her noce a bit.
Keiko Moroboshi: "My understanding is that he showed
up immediately wanting to talk to Victor...and that after talking to Victor he
wanted to talk to Tom. If Victor said anything, or if he already knew about Tom,
I don't know."
Laurel Hensley: "Got it." She nods and
pushes the glasses up. "Well, I'm giving him a chance, if a wary one."
Keiko Moroboshi: "That is probably what we're going
to be doing too. I would prefer to know more about him though..."
Laurel Hensley: "Well, we'll get there,"
she says with a little smile. "We've learned his real name...Brigette, Victor,
and I. That's a start."
Keiko Moroboshi: "That's good." *nods* "After Tom
and I meet with him, I'll pass along what we remember...both of us seem to have
particularly sharp memories of the old days."
Laurel Hensley: "Good." She nods slightly,
and looks up, as Sanctuary comes into view. "We could use everything we can find
out."
Keiko Moroboshi: *nods silently*
Laurel Hensley: She smiles a bit and looks
back to Keiko. "Coming in? Or do you have somewhere to be?"
Keiko Moroboshi: "I'll come in. It's my day
off...even turned off my cellphone...the people who might need me really
desperately know how." *she smiles a little bit at that*
Laurel Hensley: "Lovely." She reaches out
and takes Keiko's hand, then moves to lead the other woman into the club, past
William.
Keiko Moroboshi: *heads on in* ((Move to Sanctuary
room?))
Laurel Hensley: ((Yush!))
SANCTUARY
Keiko Moroboshi: *is led into Sanctuary by
Laurel*
Laurel Hensley: She walks in with a smile
to William, still holding Keiko by the hand. A little smile to people here and
there, a faint nod...she's not the socialite that Brigette is, or that Jarod
was. But she's definitely warm and friendly enough for the people, moving toward
the bar and nodding to Amy.
Keiko Moroboshi: *she's even led to the bar, and
nods to Amy...after all, Keiko's spent quite a few nights at Sanctuary in the
last couple of weeks, people know what she looks like*
Laurel Hensley: She slides up onto a
barstool and orders a Cosmo from Amy, and then turns to lean against the bar.
She's a little more relaxed her, less shy. It's a safe place. "So, then. What
else have you been up to, besides the upstairs talk things?"
Keiko Moroboshi: *she'll order some random mixed
drink or other, the player having only limited experience with
alcohol...well...that he remembers* "Not terribly much...running my practice
takes up most of my free time."
Laurel Hensley: "You should get out
more." She gives the woman a warm smile. "All work and no play. That was Jarod's
curse."
Keiko Moroboshi: "I don't know..." *she shrugs a
bit* "I wouldn't have any idea what to do with myself."
Laurel Hensley: "Sure you do." She sips at
the Cosmo. "You've just forgotten."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Were you there the time that
Brigitte decided to try to take me out dancing? It was a disaster."
Laurel Hensley: "That's because it's not
what you wanted to do, sweetie."
Keiko Moroboshi: *nods* "I guess. I still have no
idea what I would want to do." *shrugs* "Perhaps I'll figure something out in
time."
Laurel Hensley: "Everyone knows what they
enjoy," she murmurs with a shrug, cool blue eyes scanning around the floor. "The
things they love. They just need to be reminded of it, sometimes."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Then yes, I have forgotten...and
long ago. I've been like this for over a decade now."
Laurel Hensley: She tilts her head a
little bit, watching Keiko with a bit of curisoity behind those lenses perched
on her nose. "What were you like before that? What changed?"
Keiko Moroboshi: *she thinks, it's been a long
time...* "Eh...I've never been really social...just took a nice sharp turn down
when I went to college and started focusing on my work."
Laurel Hensley: "Did you have any
activities that you cut out when you started focusing...elsewhere? A boyfriend,
maybe? Things you liked to do?"
Keiko Moroboshi: "Cut him out for entirely different
reasons." *Bitter? Keiko? Naaaaaah* "I liked to study though...and I was pretty
much always a nose-to-the-grindstone kind of kid. You know, hung out with the
other antisocial nerds."
Laurel Hensley: She nods a little, smiling
slightly. "Laurel always liked the antisocial types. They were good people." She
looks down at her drink, tucking some hair behind her ear. "So we need to find
you some form of stress relief."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Eh...I'm not all that stressed.
One of the perks of being a follower is that you get to dump all of the stress
onto the leader."
Laurel Hensley: A small, pained smile
crosses over her face as she looks to the drink in her hand and nods. "Yeah.
Nice perk."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Well...it's true...and it's
part of why I have no interest in being a leader." *shrugs* "Well, that and the
complete lack of leadership skill."
Laurel Hensley: "Fair enough." She nods
and finishes off the Cosmo, looking at Amy for another one. "Leadership isn't
for everyone."
Keiko Moroboshi: *she finishes her drink, but
doesn't ask for a second one* "Yeah. I'm better at being the field medic anyway.
Have been for...oh...an eternity, by my best guess."
Laurel Hensley: She sets the empty glass
on the bartop and pushes it away with the tips of her fingers against the base,
and then picks up the second. "Yeah." She flashes a smile in Keiko's direction.
"Can't ask for a better resume then that for a job."
Keiko Moroboshi: *and that reminds her...* "Oh, if
you're in Brooklyn, keep alert...there's a woman there...used to be one of
Abby's, and she has some dangerous pets. And either she can't always keep track
of them...or worse."
Laurel Hensley: "Pets?" She looks over to
Keiko, frowning a little.
Keiko Moroboshi: "You follow the news? The guy, and
the little kid who were bitten by the snake?"
Laurel Hensley: "Oh." She nods with a
frown. "Yeah. Sorry, my mind was focused on other news stories."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Which ones?"
Laurel Hensley: She fixes Keiko with a
raised brow, perhaps as if it should be obvious. "Jarod and Nia's death
articles?"
Keiko Moroboshi: "Ahhh." *nods* "Was wondering if
there had been someting I missed."
Laurel Hensley: "No...just that." A shrug,
and she downs her Cosmo.
Keiko Moroboshi: *nods* "...so the woman in Brooklyn
may or may not be a problem...thought I'd give the warning to you guys while I
was thinking about it."
Laurel Hensley: "Appreciated." She
nods. "I'll get someone looking into it."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Umm...and you know how I'm not all
that outgoing? Well...she's positively antisocial. When I went to talk to her
about the kid that was bitten, I was worried she was going to attack me. Just
fair warning...she hates company. I'm keeping an eye out to make sure she
doesn't go to the local big baddie out of old loyalty...but not sure how much
more can really be done without driving her to him."
Laurel Hensley: She looks over at Keiko.
"She's that close to him that you think anything that we tried would drive her
there?"
Keiko Moroboshi: "When I warned her about him, she
smiled and mumbled that he was one of Abby's. That seems like a bad sign to me.
Tom and I couldn't really come up with much other than to watch her and be ready
to do something if she heads off in that direction."
Laurel Hensley: "Yeah, I'd have to think
on that to come up with anything else." She watches a particularly attractive
man walk by, then looks back. "Thanks for the heads up, though."
Keiko Moroboshi: "No problem." *well, she's looking
too, and at both the attractive men and the attractive women*
Laurel Hensley: In no way is Laurel choosy
about gender. That one was just...particularly attractive. She chuckles a little
and shakes her head as she noticed Keiko watching too. "I've been out of the
game for too long, I think."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Any particular reason?"
Laurel Hensley: "Melody." It's a simple
word, said almost casually, though the undertone of gravity belies that.
Keiko Moroboshi: *she nods, though she can't ever
remember having met Melody...but she understands*
Laurel Hensley: She sighs and shrugs.
"Doesn't matter now. That was Jarod. Moving on."
Keiko Moroboshi: "Well, good luck." *she's sincere,
and she nods*
Laurel Hensley: "Thanks." Just as sincere.
She takes a deep breath and lets it out, smiling to Keiko. "I should...go. I
feel like I need a bath. Unless you'd rather come with, which I doubt, I'll see
you later. Drinks are on the house, of corse."
Keiko Moroboshi: *Well, Keiko blushes a bit, but
shakes her head* "I should probably get going as well. It's good to know that
you're...well...as ok as you can be given the circumstances."
Laurel Hensley: "Thank you, sweetie." She
smiles and slips off the stool. "Come by more often. It's good to see you." A
light touch to Keiko's arm, and she moves back, turning to head upstairs.
Keiko Moroboshi: *and Keiko gets up to head out the
door* ((Thanks for the scene))
Laurel Hensley: ((You, too!))
