Laurel Hensley: The tyrant's sitting up
at the bar, having a drink. She needs one, after the weekend she's had. She's
dressed in a soft blue-colored wrap top, low-cut, and a short black skirt,
strapped sandles on her feet. Her glasses are sitting on the bar next to her.
John Dante: He makes his way behind the red door,
dressed in a black suit, a red crimson shirt, the top button undone and his
shoes brought to a shinning polish. He looks like he is here on business and
walks it slowly walking up the stairs to the main quarters. He stops at the top
of the stairs, his left hand coming to his right cuff and correcting it a touch
before he takes his first step in the place, eyes sharp and wits about him.
John Dante: ((*Grabs colour*))
Laurel Hensley: She glances over her
shoulder when she senses someone in the place besides the ever-present Leon, and
nods slightly to John. "Jamal. Come have a drink."
John Dante: He takes them first few
steps in ensuring his footfalls are loud enough to hear so not to suprise even
thought she is aware, his eyes flick to Leon then back to Laurel "Hello Melioth."
His voice that amazing sound, something magical and yet confident as he walks
futher into Santuary making his way slowly to the bar next to her, one hand
placed on it's surface as he half turns his body to look at the Tyrannt "You
wished a meeting, sorry I have been so long, the Circle has been very busy as of
late."
Laurel Hensley: She chuckles a little bit.
"Yeah, well. Join the club. That's not a recruitment pitch, by the way. So to
speak, at least." She slips off the stool and mvoes behind the bar. "What are
you having?"
John Dante: "A whiskey" He looks over to
Leon then back to Laurel "Then maybe somewhere private."
John Dante: "On the rocks, lets make it
last."
Laurel Hensley: "Sure. Roof is my office.
Again, informally. Sanctuary's not associated with the Court specifically, as
you know." She pours him a whiskey in a tall glass with ice, and then hands it
over. She refills her rum and picks it up. "C'mon."
John Dante: He picks it up and stands
upright "I know it isn't, still doesn't make it private though." He looks over
to Leon as he says that and follows her to the roof
Laurel Hensley: "Neither's the Concerto,"
she says pointedly, and climbs the fire escape. When she gets to the top, she
moves to take a seat on the ledge, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and lighting
up. "Everything going okay with the Circle?"
John Dante: He follows her up, taking a
moment to look at the sky and then the view, he always missed the sky. But that
was then, he looks over to her "Things are going well, not quite as fast as I
like but the Circle has gone from strength to strength." He lifts his chin a
touch, proud for those underhim and the good they have done. "How fairs the
courts?"
Laurel Hensley: She gives him a look. Any
pride she may have had was stripped away long ago. "You heard my invocations,
right?"
John Dante: He nods taking a small sip of
the whiskey "Yes I did, and we have never stopped fighting what happened, and
other fallen, the slayer...I did lose Tom if you remember, we seem to have been
investigating two different things, but as I offered before we are more than
willing to come aid the court in anything that can aid humanity."
Laurel Hensley: "We can't do this alone,
Jamal." She shakes her head and rises, draining her drink in a couple swallows.
"Split apart, we're just spinning our wheels uselessly. And every day, the
Erishkigal and Cernnunos get stronger. But hell, I have no idea what you're
working on. None at all. And us..." She shrugs.
John Dante: He looks to her, face very
much blank still "Like I said earlier, the circle will offer full support on
this." He looks out once more to the view "And we are only split apart as long
as you view it as such."
Laurel Hensley: She looks over at Dante.
"You're willing to permanently join forces? No court and circle, no two little
groups...but one unified organization?"
John Dante: He shakes his head "No, no
I'am not, you remember why we didn't to begin with, your structure and though
you changed that, and I did tell you it would fail, we are tywo different groups
still united against the same foe, but believe me we are not the same." He looks
to her then "We are not by a long shot, I still have my vision, I feel you have
lost grasp of yours."
Laurel Hensley: She frowns, and looks
away from Dante. She leans over and sets her glass on the ledge, then
straightens up to look out over the city. "How have I lost grasp, Dante?"
John Dante: "You never wanted this, never
wanted to be in command, never wanted to be the end of the line, as a leader."
He moves closer to the ledge "We bear the burdens so others don't, we bear
witness to our desisions and if they fail only we turely feel it. Your vision
wasn't you to lead it was just for something better and I believe that you hoped
that if you lead you could make that vision a reality." He puts one hand on her
shoulder "But I still remember little brother when you had no time for war, your
song was all we could here and how you were the first to step into hell. You are
the inspiration for the vision, but like a bard you sing only the tales and tell
of what could be."
Laurel Hensley: She pulls away from his
touch. "You don't need to remind me that I'm not cut out for this, Jamal. I'm
well aware that I don't know how to inspire loyalty." There's something deeply
hurt there. "But that's not vision. You're talking about the past. Vision's
about the future...and if you think I've lost that vision, I'd like to know
how."
John Dante: He moves back his hand "I
haven't lost the vision." He takes a step back "Unification will not help, you
have an infernal brady bunch up here, not a court, everyone leading out there
own agendas, you need to bring them together, focus them."
Laurel Hensley: "When was the last time
you actually came around to find out, Jamal?" She turns and looks at him,
frowning. "Are you even aware that I've made up with Urian, and he's my Minister
of Dragons? Do you have any idea what's going on with the Court, beyond what
I've told you in invocations?"
John Dante: He nods "Yes I do, but so not
place the balme on me, I have visited, and left, when have you ever seeked me
out save for when you are endangered." He looks to her then "LIke I said we
fight the same battle but differently, I know you have helped but do you know
what we as the Circle really do, I'am sure you don't." He takes another sip of
this whiskey "Santuary isn't neutral, it isn't what you say, I know it and i
think you do, it is the Courts club house so why would I come here, to be
insulted by your court...I think not."
Laurel Hensley: "Are you fucking serious,
Jamal?" She stares at him. "Have I ever conducted court business out of
Sanctuary? Have I ever admonished anyone or made a promotion inside it? Just
because Eli owns it doesn't mean that it's mine to play with. Point in fact, I
have no rights to the place. Eli can kick me out at any moment, just like he
could anyone else. If I threaten violence there, I'm in as much trouble as if
that waste Burnham did."
Laurel Hensley: "And if anyone in my Court
is insulting me, why haven't you let me know?"
Laurel Hensley: ((insulting YOU))
John Dante: "Eli..." He frowns but doesn't
say anything more "Leon, the rest they are in your court right? Or does the
minster have his own now, in which case does that not make three?"
Laurel Hensley: She notes that frown, but
doesn't say anything for now. "Are you saying that Leon's insulted you?"
John Dante: He looks back to her, face
blank once more "Then no, obviously I do not know enough about the courts, the
Circle have been busy." He puts a hand through his hair "I must start contacting
you more it must seem, that failing does lie with me and I apologise for it."
Laurel Hensley: She frowns and look away
again. "We can't do this separated, Jamal. Apart, the city will just fall. And
if you don't know the lengths that I'm willing to go for us to unite, you
haven't been paying attention."
John Dante: "Do you know how many strong
the circle is, it is nothing to your court, why would you seek unity? I mean
besides the general gesture" He takes yet another sip. "What do you mean by
lengths?"
Laurel Hensley: She's quiet for a long
moment, soft blue eyes scanning over the city, back to him. "A new united
group--a new Court--needs to be totally new, Jamal. My failures can't continue,
and your pride is far too much for a unified group. If this is done...someone
needs to take charge. Someone who is neither of us."
John Dante: He sighs slowly, he looks
out to the city with her, voice lowered a touch, more human "I think the court
could do with yet another restart, someone new, but the circle will not be
there, and this has nothing to do with pride, it has to do with the -vision- why
it was formed in the first place, as an alternative to the courts, because to be
honest some characters in the court wouldn't last a damn minute in the circle.
And none of them would want to last a damn minute in the courts, I’ am out of
the politics game, and that’s all a court is, politics plain and simple, if I
wanted that I'd run for mayor." He takes his last sip. "You do have vision, and
the teamwork is important, but I do not see unity, we have come to far with too
much past for that and too much done as separate groups, but that’s doesn’t mean
we can’t aid each other, humanity is why we are here, but just because we are
here for them doesn’t mean we need to be a whole, like Legions we join with
fellows of our own ilk, like the first before us I will give fallen that other
option.”
Laurel Hensley: She frowns and hangs her
head, shaking it, and steps away from him. "Legions didn't work in the war,
Jamal. And they won't work here. We're not angels anymore, and you've never
understood that. And what's more, you're completely unwilling to accept your own
faults. That's why we lost." She shrugs. "I think we're done here. I'll give
Keiko what we've learned about the group home if any of yours deign themselves
worthy of being around. And please tell Delaney that her Tyrant would like to
talk to her one of these months. Just because we're not fucking anymore doesn't
mean she doesn't have a responsibility to the Court she joined."
John Dante: He looks to Laurel "Del is
part of the courts..." He looks back to the sky line "Then you should know she
became part of the circle...I will inform her to contact you, she will have to
make a choice." He puts his hands in his pockets "And for the record I can see
my own faults quite clearly Laurel which many of I have admitted, you all just
have a habit of reminding me of them constantly and yet I haven't flooded harlem
or become torment driven, and yet my vision remains, and the war as you put was
never lost, we are still here are we not" He nods to her then as he moves for
the door "And don't presume about worthiness, we help humanity and are more than
willing to help on the home, or if you had bothered to find out anything about
the circle like I had the courts you'd know are out there trying to save
humanity every bloody day, ask Casey when you next see him." He turns around
before he leaves "I do hope the court pulls together, and please know that none
of this is personnel, we just obvious have different paths to follow, may the
first be with you" He puts two fingers to his lips and kisses them before he
heads back down the stairs
Laurel Hensley: That...actually makes her
angry, and she turns to glare at him. "It's ~always~ personal, Jamal! And I
think that's what you don't get!" She shouts it out at him, then turns back,
smacking the glass off the ledge to fall to the back alley below. She doesn't
really expect him to come back.
John Dante: And he doesn't, walking
through and out of Sanctuary, he heared her though and he sighs as he leaves,
not the meeting he hoped for but then again they never were. ((And fade, cool
scene man, thanks alot :) ))
Laurel Hensley: ((Thank you! Was good.
*G*))
