Sadie Blackfoot: *Strolls into the
park.*
Penelope Goodson (pt): *Humming to herself
as she smiles at no one in particular, she's looking around like a wide eyed
tourist*
Sadie Blackfoot: The tall woman gives
Penelope a suspicious look. Then again, she looks at everyone that way.
Penelope Goodson (pt): **Plump. round
faced, and pear shaped. This young woman is hardly a victoria secrets model.
She's pretty in that soft full way that someone who shops in the missy petite
section could never pull off. Full bosom, wide hips, and thick legs make up most
of Penelope's curvy frame. She's solid and a little round.. but not grossly over
weight. About 5'8 and 180 lbs, roughly 20 some years old. Penny's usually
dressed in an eclectic mix of soft vibrant colors, baby blues, bright yellows
and peaches.. the darkest thing you'll ever see on her are her bluejeans, baggy
and a little worn. Well loved. Brown hiking boots poke from beneath her pants,
feet a little overlarge. Her hair is a light orangey brown..about the middle of
her back, and is usually thrown back into a haphazard ponytail or braid, and
held back with a colorful scarf. Powder blue eyes wink from beneath messy bangs.
((App 3. ))
Penelope Goodson (pt): *She brings a
hand up to wave at Sadie, a goodnatured grin as she keeps along the path,
looking around. a glance at the sky* Oh! Hi! Sorry.. can I interrupt you for a
second miss? *must be a supermodel. Sadie was .. huge*
Sadie Blackfoot: *Glances around the
park.*
Sadie Blackfoot: Neon blue eyes cut back
to Penelope. (ap 3, not quite *s*) Sadie is distinctive, but not beautiful.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *Also glances
around the park, shambling over and tugging on the scarf in her hair.*
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He strides his way
into the park, attache case in a hand, copy of the Times under an arm. A
Dunhill cigarette rests in the other hand. All in all, he seems to be in a good
mood, to those that know him...which means he's is his usual cold, formal self.
He makes his way toward the paths, traveling down them.
Sadie Blackfoot: ((Oh, I put up pics for
Sadie at long last. In the coppermine.)) "What can I do for you?" The woman's
voice is deeper than most. A whisper quality to it, as though someone else might
hear.
Sadie Blackfoot:
d10: per + alert: 1,8,3,1,5,
Penelope Goodson (pt): *Impossibly soft
blue eyes meet Sadie's a moment, then are back to scanning the park* Hey! I
don't suppose you know anywhere to eat around here? You know... a busy place?
But not McDonalds.. *she laughs* Thats not food. ..Oh.. and when do the lights
come on.. like.. at dark..or after dark?
Penelope Goodson (pt): *bubbly and
engaging. A refreshing honesty to the plump woman. obviously not a native new
yorker. she'd be more jaded*
Penelope Goodson (pt):
d10: per alert: 6,2,4,3,
Sadie Blackfoot: She completely misses the
tiger sneaking up behind her as the wind draws a stray lock of hair across her
eyes. A gloved hand moves to draw it behind her ear and she blinks, then squints
uncharacteristically down at the plump cherub that addressed her.
Sadie Blackfoot: "The lights come on at
dusk. There are many restaurants in the area, as well as vendors in the park, if
you like hot dogs."
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]:

Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He glances over at
the duo speaking...an eyebrow raising as he notes Sadie. He alters his course,
heading toward the two, not being entirely secretive about it.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *The prettily
rotund woman looks around, a cheery smile to the business man as he strides
towards them OH! he had a newspaper. those alway made her sad... As quickly as
she'd smiled, its a sad frown .. then a smile again at Sadie* Hey. great.
thanks.. You mean like in the park? amd at dusk.. like.. AT DUSK dusk.. or
like.. after dusk? I mean like..still light out? ..*she looks to Troy as he gets
closer* Hey!
Sadie Blackfoot: Sadie is apparently off
her mark today, taking no note of Troy. Her eyes playing over the soft looking
woman who is such a startling contrast to the dark blade that is Sadie.
Sadie Blackfoot: Fliches visibly as the
girl calls out, and turns, a hand sliding inside her coat. Startling Sadie
always carries a certain risk. She scans the park, expecting the worst.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *she rubs her neck,
taking a step back from sadie with a laugh* Whoa girl! you're going to give me
neck strain, towering like that.. you need to like.. slump or something so we
mere mortals can lookatcha. *a laughs as she looks to troy and queries* What'd
ya thing dudes? think i should sue?
Penelope Goodson (pt): (think)
Sadie Blackfoot: Finally spying Troy she
slides her hand out of her coat and smoothes it. Most of her ilk feel quite safe
in the park, she has good reason not to. "Good evening, Mr. Lawrence."
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He nods a little bit
to Penelope as she greets him, affecting a slight smile to her. "Good evening."
His gaze moves to Sadie, and he nods to her as well, a little more familiar,
perhaps more warmly. "Miss Blackfoot."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Sue?" Her eyes
flickering from Troy to the tourist.
Sadie Blackfoot: Somehow that one syllable
seems to embody a subtle threat. Maybe its your imagination?
Penelope Goodson (pt): *She looks around
the park, watching clouds puff by a moment with a wistful smile. She doesn't
seem to mind that she wasn't answered* Oh. yeah.. hey.. I'm Penelope.
"penny-lope" if you're a wise guy. Penny for short. *she laughs and shakes her
head at Sadie* Aww I'm like.. totally kidding. Hell. I don't have enough money
for a lawyer anyway.
Sadie Blackfoot: Her eyes drift from the
suspiciously friendly girl. Troy> "I trust you've been well."
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: "I think, perhaps,
that would fall under 'frivolous lawsuits,' Miss." He regards Penelope a moment.
"Probably not the best course of action."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I know a rather good
one," says with a hint of a smirk tugging at her lips.
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: "I am well, Miss
Blackfoot." He nods to the woman, taking a drag off of his cigarette. "Quite
well, indeed. And yourself?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "I too am doing well.
Perhaps we might have coffee some time and do a little... catching up?"
Penelope Goodson (pt): *Penny smiles
brightly to Troy. was she interrupting them? .... aw hell. It'd been awhile
since she'd talked to a handsome man in a suit. Enjoy it while it lasts. She
rubs a hand over the soft fuzz of her peach sweater, other hand playing with her
hair as she studies a tree*
Sadie Blackfoot: And to the soft woman,
she extends a gracious hand. "Sadie Blackfoot."
Penelope Goodson (pt): Oh we're getting
formal are we! Groovay! *she tosses out a hand with pleasant exuberance, pumping
Sadies* Penelope Goodson. .. Esquire? *a bubbling laugh as she squints her eyes
in pleasure* And you were lawrence?
Sadie Blackfoot: She seems to have decided
Penny is no immediate threat, although no one is ever entirely excluded from
that category.
Sadie Blackfoot: Her gloved hand is cool
to the touch, the grip firm, her arm not giving much way to exuberant shaking.
She takes her hand back as soon as possible without seeming to be rude.
Penelope Goodson (pt):
d10: per alert: 9,4,9,9,
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: ((*Beat connection*)) "Perhaps we might, yes." He nods to Sadie, then looks over to Penelope. "Troy Lawrence, Miss Goodson. A pleasure." His hand comes out for a handshake...firm, strong, though not painful.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *she opens and
closes her mouth once with a flap. Staring at Troy, powder blue eyes widening*
oh.. uh.. *she thrusts a fleshy hand at him* Yeah.
Sadie Blackfoot: Blinks down at the girl's
reaction to Troy.
Sadie Blackfoot:
d10: per + emp: 8,5,2,5,
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: A slightly raised
brow at the woman's reaction to him, but he shakes the hand formally, then
releases it. Eyes cant over to Sadie.
Sadie Blackfoot: She arches a brow at
Troy.
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]:
d10: Per+Emp: Penelope: 9,6,8,10,5,
Penelope Goodson (pt): *she rubs the back
of her neck, taking a voluminous breath and tittering* Right. no camels then. *a
grin*
Sadie Blackfoot: Her eyes fall back down
to Penelope, that innate suspicion returning.
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He looks from
Penelope to the Dunhill between the fingers of his left hand. "You are a
non-smoker, I take it?"
Sadie Blackfoot: Penelope's comment for
some reason brings a ludicrous image of a were-camel to Sadie's mind.
Penelope Goodson (pt): Oh yeah. Like my
lungs pink and fleshy. Sorry... *she grins and nods, rubbing at a shoulder*
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He nods a little,
moving to a garbage can and stubbing the smoke out on the side before dropping
it in the can. "My apologies, Miss Goodson."
Sadie Blackfoot: She glances back up at
Troy, more tension in her frame than a few moments before, apparently ready to
back him should he decide to take any sort of action.
Sadie Blackfoot: She stays within stabbing
distance of Penny as Troy moves off to snub his smoke.
Penelope Goodson (pt): naw Naw.. No
problem.. *she rubs at her neck, then gives an all over shake, as if banishing
the smoke from her lungs that way. Her plump body ripples like a jello mold. *
So. Oh yeah.. hey. you guys know any all night diners *this was new york.. the
girl apparently hadn't realized it yet* like.. the kind that are open till dawn?
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He nods to Sadie a
little, as if to say it's all right. Eyes move back to Penelope, watching her
for a moment. "There are several within Manhattan, Miss Goodson. All throughout
the city."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Most of the diners in
town are open all night."
Sadie Blackfoot: Eases a step away from
the woman, presumably so she won't get a crick in her neck and sue.
Penelope Goodson (pt): Rockin. *she beams
and strolls under a parklight, all the brighter in her vibrant colors* OK..
well.. I'm headed for something to eat. *full cheeks redden a little as she
looks around the park, then back to Sadie* hey.. anyone ever told you, you
totally could be like.. a sidhe or something?
Sadie Blackfoot: "A sidhe?" Intensely blue
eyes focusing on the woman, as she tries to determine if she's been insulted or
not. She is, afterall, a SHE.
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He looks between the
two women, eyes passing from one to the other with interest.
Penelope Goodson (pt): yeah.. fairy
people. They're really Tall.. you know.. think elves. *she grins*
Sadie Blackfoot: "If you're suggesting I'm
a lesbian..." she says with a scowl.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *penelope busts
into tittering laughter, shaking her head and flushing a rosy hue*
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: Something darkens
in the man's gaze as he watches Penelope. Not hostile...just more discerning.
Sadie Blackfoot: A glance towards Troy, to
see if he has any idea what the girl is going on about.
Penelope Goodson (pt): Not that there's
anything wrong with lesbians.. i mean. I've like..been to college.. but
no. Whoa. Hellooooo freud! *she slowly stops jiggling with laughter and looks to
troy.. then sadie. hey. she was the only one laughing.. that jolly countenance
turns quickly into a frown* Hey?
Sadie Blackfoot: Her gaze falls back to
Penelope. Silent and penetrating.
Sadie Blackfoot:
d10: per + emp (Penny): 7,4,2,8,
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: "Yes?" He tilts his
head a little, watching the strange woman. Not completely put off...he's learned
how common the title 'strange woman' can apply in New York City. But still a
good, noticable level more formal then before.
Penelope Goodson (pt): *powder blue eyes
blink* ooookeeee.. uh. *she makes a confused face and gives a little laugh*
yeah. I'm going to head out to the diner nooow.. uh. sory if i offended.. i
mean.. you really ~do~ look like one.. its not an insult or anything. Thanks for
the help tho...
Sadie Blackfoot: She's accustomed to
reading between the lines, but Penny is somehow eluding her.
Sadie Blackfoot: She is quite staring at
the woman now, the unfamiliar sensation of confusion clouding her gaze.
Penelope Goodson (pt): Stay safe! Its
crazy out there! *a titter, and the pudgy girl draws her sweater a little closer
around herself casually.Penelope looks around, plotting her course before her
curvy bulk moves with quick deliberance towards the exit*
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He watches Penelope
run off to the exit, frowning some. "Interesting."
Sadie Blackfoot: Her eyes follow Penny
until the woman is a good distance away, and well out of hearing range, before
she looks to Troy. "Do you have any idea what she was going on about?"
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: "None whatsoever.
However, it would hardly be the first time that someone in this city has said
something that made no sense whatsoever in my presence."
Sadie Blackfoot: Nods slightly. "Coffee?"
she inquires, hoping to speak with him privately. "Some place we might be able
to speak more freely?"
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: He nods to the woman.
"Of course. Your choice, Miss Blackfoot."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I trust your office
is secure?" She has no such secure environment to retreat to.
Troy Lawrence [PB 4]: "It is." He nods,
holding a hand out toward the Gate. "Shall we?"
Sadie Blackfoot: She steps into stride
with him, walking at his side.
Sadie Blackfoot -> Troy Lawrence [PB 4]:

Troy Lawrence [PB 4] -> Sadie Blackfoot:
((Yep! DT Business!))
DA'S OFFICE
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He leads
Sadie into the DA's Office, on the corner of Centre and Leonard bordering
Chinatown. The office Troy leads her into is simply furnished...almost spartan,
though tasteful and not empty-looking. Furnished and arranged to project a
feeling of power, and give the man behind the oak desk dominating the room a
feeling of advantage and control.
Sadie Blackfoot: She walks in with him,
waiting to be offered a seat as she takes in the surroundings, noting the
dominanting desk with a knowing quirk of the lips, a hint of amusement in her
eyes. It's been a while since she's been here.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He shuts the
door behind them, and moves around the desk. "Anything to drink?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "Tea if you have it."
Still standing as she turns to thoughtfully observe him.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "I can have
some made." He nods, and picks up the phone to have his receptionist bring in
some tea, and to knock before entering. The phone is set back in the receiver,
and he gestures to the chair on the opposite side of the desk from him. "Please,
have a seat." He settles in his own chair. "How are you?"
Sadie Blackfoot: She pulls the chair
closer to the desk and settles comfortably, leaving her coat on and crossing her
legs. "I have been quite well."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Excellent. I
am glad to hear it." He smiles a little, pulling an ashtray from a desk drawer
and setting it on the desk. He was denied his full cigarette before, and he
means to have one now.
Sadie Blackfoot: "How are things with
you... and your mate? Domestication seems to suit you," she chuckles. "I don't
believe you ever shared her name?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Marie Anna
Elizabeth Delacourt." He quirks a bit of a smile at her joke. "Yes, I would
agree with you...it has done me quite well. Miss Delacourt is well...she is busy
with her work at the New York City Ballet."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I don't believe I've met
her. Wedding plans in the making, or have you already eloped?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "They are in
the making. We planned for a long engagement, due to our relatively short
courtship."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I wish you both the best
in your issue."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Thank you."
He gives her a gracious smile. "What are you finding yourself up to?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "Oh there's always
something about to keep me busy," she says with a smile, reaching into her coat
and removing a plastic card which she slides across his desk, just a bit towards
him. It's the credit card he gave her when she helped him arrange the banquet
for the Royals. "It seems our business relationship has waned of late." Leans
back. "I've noticed you haven't cancelled my phone." A hint of expectation in
her tone.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He looks at
the credit card, then back to Sadie with a bit of a shrug. "I have not cancelled
the phone, no. I must admit, I had always rather hoped that when you were ready,
we could continue our business relationship. I have merely been waiting on the
time that you were ready. I apologize for not contacting you before, but I have
found myself busy with other issues."
Sadie Blackfoot: Nods. "I'm sure there is
a great deal on your plate. I am, of course, at your service." A bow of the head
that almost carries the formality of curtsie. "Our past endeavors have been
mutually rewarding, wouldn't you say?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "I would most
definitely agree, yes." He nods to that, lighting a cigarette and leaning back.
"What are you involved in at the present moment?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "A matter involving
one of your tribe's kin."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Oh?" A raised
brow, as he ashes in the ashtry. Expression requesting clarification.
Sadie Blackfoot: "It seems the girl was
brutality raped by a member of your ilk and has come to my tribe seeking
protection and solace."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: His eyes snap
to her suddenly, brow furrowing, green eyes darkening. Not dangerous, not
threatening, just...highly displeased by this news. "Who is this that you speak
of, Miss Blackfoot?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "You are one of the very
few members of the sept whom hold the welfare of kin in any serious regard. A
quality I find respectably valorous..." She smiles. "And endearing. "I would
request you forgo her identity for the time being, as she has confided in me in
confidence. I am still gathering information regarding the ordeal. Suffice it to
say she was injured beyond reproductive capability and is justifiably
disillusioned with regards to her heritage."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He purses his
lips. "I see. Do you know the identity of the...individual who brutalized her
so?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "I will have that
information as well as his location quite soon, I expect. He was her fiance at
the time. The engagement was dissolved and his former sept exiled him. I suspect
he is currently in New York. Do you share my opinion that his reprimand has
been... insufficient?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "I most
certainly agree." He nods, frowning. A drag is taken off the cigarette, exhaled
slowly. He ashes, eyes on her. "What may I do to help?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "The girl is currently
under my personal protection... for what that's worth." Lowering her eyes
demurely, an acknowledgement of her lesser status than a trueborn. "I have yet
to meet the new elders. How do you think they'd respond were a ronin of your
tribe to befall... a misfortune?" Lifting her gaze to watch him closely, looking
for his body language, signs of anger, as she is indeed suggesting she might
kill a trueborn, however subtly put. A risky statement at best.

Sadie Blackfoot: In particularly looking
for signs of rage.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He's watching
her very, very closely. No tensing from him...nothing to suggest he's about to
leap out of his chair and destroy his office and her, for sure. His face is
cool, even. "I am on quite good realtions with Gavin-Rhya, but I cannot honestly
say how he would respond to such a thing. He is an excellent leader in this time
of war...but there are a certain way he would prefer go about handling things.
Probably handling it personally."
Sadie Blackfoot: Shifts slightly in her
seat as it appears she's not in imminent danger of getting a personal view of
her own entrails. "Perhaps you might present me to him... sometime?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Indeed, I
will be happy to do so, at your leisure."
Sadie Blackfoot: "In spite of the
awkwardness it must present your tribe, I personally believe the girl is best
left with us for the present. Her step brother will likely bring this issue to
Gavin-rhya, if he has not already. While repatriation is a reasonable goal, I
think forcing her return will result in her fleeing beyond all protection, which
benefits none."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He frowns
deeply, clearly not liking the lack of information he's getting. This one does
not like being left in the dark. But he nods slightly.
Sadie Blackfoot: "The sooner
introduction are made, the better." She taps a finger on the arm of the chair as
if considering something. Sighs, knowing her next statement is likely to result
in more questions, but is necessary to avoid certain issues of protocol. "You
may present me as Baroness Mercedes Macera." Likely the name Macera will ring a
bell, the garou it belongs to, Raymond Unseen-Han-of-Gaia Macera, had near
legendary renown and is sung of even this far from Mexico.
Sadie Blackfoot: ((Unseen HAND of Gaia..))
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "You're asking
me to lie to the Grand Elder of my Sept?"
Sadie Blackfoot: Arches a brow. "No, Mr.
Lawrence, I'm asking you not to."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: Oh. OH. He
blinks. "I see." You are a stupid, stupid Silver Fang. Yes, you are. Very,
very stupid. "My apologies, Miss Blackfoot. It merely...you have me at a
disadvantage. I fear I've made quite the inappropriate insinuation."
Sadie Blackfoot: "It is not common
knowledge, I would prefer to keep it that way." Maybe she's his daughter? Likely
too young to be his wife, although that's not unheard of if she were given to
him at a very young age.
Sadie Blackfoot: Her looks may suggest
breeding stock, but her attitude certainly doesn't. "The Royal family set the
title upon me," she offers by way of clarification.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Of course."
He nods. "Your identity will remain completely confidential, I can assure you. I
do not share such secrets entrusted to me without the permission of the person
in question."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I rely upon your
discretion. It is likely Gavin-rhya will know, given his status. I did not wish
to embarass you by having this revealed unexpectedly."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "That is much
appreciated." He nods to her, a bit of a smile returning. "I will make the
arrangements immediately."
Sadie Blackfoot: "And as I am once again
involved in inter tribal relations and perhaps of no small use to you? Maybe you
would consider formalizing our business relationship? Employment is so difficult
to find when you're an illegal alien."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: The smile
quirks just a touch, and he nods. "Indeed. It would not hurt for us to make you
a legal resident...which is something I may be able to help with."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I believe my tribe has
someone on it. However if problems arise I may seek your assistance on the
issue."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He nods. "All
right." He pauses a moment. "You are aware, I assume, of the resent rise in your
tribe within the city?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "I am quite the target of
a great deal of resentment," she acknowledges. "Many consider me a safe
target." Smiles pleasantly as she says this but her eyes burn with something
dangerously dark.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: ((GAAAAAAAAAAH.
resent=RECENT))
Sadie Blackfoot: ((dlp))
Sadie Blackfoot: ((thought you were trying
to say resentment)) "Yes, I do maintain contact with my kinsmen."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He nods a
little bit. "All right. I had rather hoped you had. My pack is working with the
more prominant pack of Shadow Lords within the city to resolve an issue, and I
did not wish my working with them to be an issue for you."
Sadie Blackfoot: "You perhaps might keep
me appraised how that transpires? It's always good to have multiple perspectives
on these issues. And a voice in the opposite camp," she adds with a sly smile.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Indeed." He
nods with a smile. "Voices are quite useful, whereever you may find them."
Sadie Blackfoot: "There is always bound to
be some dissention, but I believe we are in a unique situation. The Silver Fangs
and the Shadow Lords have the opportunity to set a new standard of cooperation
that could stand as an example to the other tribes of the benefit of unity."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: The use of the
word 'unity' draws an odd sort of look from him...intrigued. He nods a bit
"Agreed."
Sadie Blackfoot: Laces gloved fingers
together and watches him a moment, making eye contact well beyond conventional
wisdom before she lowers her gaze. "I should warn you, some members of my tribe
perceive our acquisition of your kin as a means of embarassing your tribe. I
hope you have the will to treat such childish behavior as... just that."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He frowns a
little bit. "My concern there is not embarassment, Miss Blackfoot. And I will
admit...I am not entirely comfortable with that situation. You inform me of a
kin of mine who is in your possession because a Silver Fang has brutalized her,
but that I cannot know her identity...and that her half-brother, who I also do
not know, will be bringing this to Gavin-Rhya's attention soon. And frankly, I
do not know why you have brought this up, as you do not seem to have a way for
me to aid in this. This does not sit particularly well with me."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Presenting me to
Gavin-rhya is a great deal of help. Give me a day. I don't wish the girl to be
dragged before the elders only to find all confidences have been broken. I
intend to speak with her regarding the situation, and suggest she appeal to you
to stand as her voice, as a member of her own tribe, in dissent of her being
forced to return. It would go a good way towards reestablishing her trust in her
own people. I also believe she would be relieved were you to suggest I might
accompany her to any hearings if she wishes it."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He frowns a
little bit, and then nods. "I understand. Of course, I will not take her before
the Elders until I am aware of all the necessary information. I would not even
present her case, or bring the subject up to anyone, before I heard her side,
and had investigated thoroughly."
Sadie Blackfoot: "This is a difficult
situation for many kin to graps, and near impossible for a trueborn to
appreciate. I have been in a similar situation as this girl, having been held by
the Darabka Ver. You cannot grasp the effect it has upon the psyche to be
utterly helpless in the face of the power and rage a trueborn can turn, even
upon their own kin. Trust is a fragile thing. Easily lost and near impossible to
regain. You can help her, Mr. Lawrence... but only if you are willing to extend
some trust."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: His face is
calm as she talks...his eyes get just a little bit...cold, perhaps? as she
explains how he cannot know such a thing. "I will do my best, Miss Blackfoot."
Sadie Blackfoot: Purses her lips as she
contemplates the look he's settled on her. "Have you ever had such an
experience, Mr. Lawrence?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He considers
the question for a long moment, his jaw clenching just a bit...barely noticable,
as impassive as he usually is. "Being a Trueborn, Miss Blackfoot, does not
always mean that you are the one with the power. Let us leave it at that, if you
do not mind."
Sadie Blackfoot: Smiles, a hint of
darkness in her eyes. She has proven that to more than one trueborn in her time.
"I am holding you as an example to this girl, that the fall of one, is not the
fall of all, Mr. Lawrence. If you wish the girl to return to her people, you
must show her nobility, honor and justice still live in her blood, through
yours."
Sadie Blackfoot: "A task I think you are
quite fit for."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He watches her for a long moment, noting the smile, the darkness. His face is impassive, his expression perfectly even. "Thank you, Miss Blackfoot. I will of course endeavor to do so."
Sadie Blackfoot: Nods her acquiesence,
and leans back a bit more. "Now tell me, what may I do for you?"
Sadie Blackfoot: Idly wonders what became
of the tea.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He considers
the question a moment, as there is a knock at the door. "Come in." As if Sadie's
thoughts had made it reality, Troy's receptionist enters with the tea for the
woman, handing it over with a smile before she leaves.
Sadie Blackfoot: "Thank you," accepting
the cup with a nod.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: Once the door
shuts behind the departing receptionist, Troy looks back to Sadie. "I believe,
Miss Blackfoot, that for now--until you are legally able to work, I shall ask
that you act as a connection point with others in the city. I have recently been
made aware that the way I deal with others is not always appropriate. I do not
quite understand the nuances of many of the other tribes, having been raised in
a Sept of all Silver Fangs. If you would merely--for now--keep your eyes and
ears open for me, I'm sure we can come to an agreement on a stipend of sorts in
compensation for your services."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I will do what I can in
that regard, however I should probably inform you I am not in the best standing
with the sept." Pariah would probably best describe her standing, but she
decides to keep it low key for the moment.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Perhaps we
can do something about that."
Sadie Blackfoot: Arches a brow. "Oh?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Indeed." He
folds his hands on the desk. "Explain the issue, and I will see what I can do."
Sadie Blackfoot: A rare moment of
hesitancy. "It is... quite complex."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: Hmmm. "Explain
what you can, then. Perhaps I can at least provide some insight, if not resolve
the situation?"
Sadie Blackfoot: Leans back thoughtfully
studying the man a moment. "You were aware of the activities of the Darabka Ver
in the city?"
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "I was aware
of a very good portion of it, I believe, yes." He nods, frowning some.
Sadie Blackfoot: "I've been accused,
unofficially of endangering the sept, because their activities were unknown
until my arrival. I am not an illegal alien by choice. I was taken by them from
my home in Mexico, sold by them, to James Shadow-Whisper, Michael Espesito's
twin brother and shipped, quite literally, to Kansas. I eventually escaped them
and fled to New York. They tracked me here, although I had thought I had lost
them upon my arrival."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He
nods...mention of Espesito brings an instant darkening to his eyes. Something
eerily similar, perhaps, to the dark look she gave him not that long ago. "I
see..."
Sadie Blackfoot: "When I realized I was
still being pursued, I appealed to the only member of my tribe I'd come across.
His people delivered me back to Espesito."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Do you know
why?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "Several possibilites,
the most obvious being, he was a traitor. He may have hoped the DV would contact
Espesito. It's possible he was using me as unwilling bait. He may be an unlisted
member of the DV. I never discovered the truth of his involvement. However, he
seems to have fled the city about the time someone named Double Charlie began
picking off members of the DV. You may have seen mention of him in the
newspapers as a serial killer."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Mention of
the Shadow Lord as a serial killer?" He raises an eyebrow, mind filtering
through all the serial killers he'd come across via the paper and via his own
work. He tended to get those cases, after all. "Who?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "No, I don't believe
Double Charlie was ever captured." Smiles slightly. "The man who betrayed me was
named Urgahaldt."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Urgahaldt dropped from
sight about the time someone began picking off the local cell of the DV."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Rather suspicious
timing."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Ingvar
Urgahaldt." He watches the woman for a moment, eyes discerning.
Sadie Blackfoot: "Yes. He took me under
his protection, then his people allowed Espesito to pick me up. Espesito told me
Ingvar had 'given' me to him and I was now his property."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He frowns,
considering all this. "I see. Continue, if you would."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I was actually on the
phone with Piotre Urgahaldt when Espesito arrived. He hung up on me. There was a
good deal of shooting, I was injured, and Espesito hauled me off and kept me
shackled for several weeks. He was more than a little abusive during that time.
His sadistic nature proved his downfall."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: He nods. "I am
fairly aware, Miss Blackfoot, of Mr. Espesito's downfall."
Sadie Blackfoot: "He crippled me and took
great delight in taking me for 'walks' to remind me I had once again lost my
freedom. A man named Trvor Dunn took note of his activities and freed me from
his 'care'."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: A short
nod. He knows the name Trevor Dunne quite well, though certainly not as well as
he thinks.
Sadie Blackfoot: "In return for my
freedom, Mr. Dunne brought me into his employ. He procured a list of the DV
agents and... I was assured the sept had the list. Yet they were not acting on
it."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: A quirk of the
eyebrow. This was certainly news to him, that the sept had this information and
didn't act on it.
Sadie Blackfoot: "And certainly, Mr.
Urgahaldt knew long before of their activities, having.. extracted the
information from me."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I had no reason to
assume the sept was uninformed. Yet, I continued in Mr. Dunn's employ and waited
for the sept to take action. When they did not, I'm afraid I made a tactical
error."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "Extracted."
He frowns a little bit, but nods. "I see."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: "And what
was this error?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "I was actually warned by
another kin I should be careful because of the DV. Which confirmed they did
indeed have the information. I attempted to explain to her that I was aware of
them, that they had tracked me to the city... and that was as far as I got. The
kin, one Brianna and Catie, grew enraged that I had not warned them, and
literally refused to hear another word. I had thought if the sept would not act,
that I would recruit kin to do what they had not. However, my attempt was
unsuccessful. The kin reported me as a danger to the sept."
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: Definite
recognition of the forenamed kin, and a deep frown. "I see." Yes, he's saying
that a lot, it seems.
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: ((I would like
to pause this scene here for now, if you don't mind. It's causing me too much
OOC stress at the moment.))
Sadie Blackfoot: ((kk))
Troy Lawrence [DA's Office]: ((Thank you.))
Sadie Blackfoot: "No formal charges were brought against me, that I'm aware of. I've been the sept often enough and have not been brought before the Truthcatchers. However I was labelled a pariah."
Troy Lawrence: He nods a little to that.
"Understood. Which is something we would most assuredly like to fix."
Sadie Blackfoot: "One day while I was in
the Sept, Mr. Culligan observed Catie's attitude towards me and demanded the
cause. She told him I was a traitor in so many words and he told her that made
me suitable bait for the DV. By my interpretation of his response, he had
condemned and sentenced me based solely upon her complaint. He ordered me to
come to him, and I ran. Having already spent quite enough time in the hands of
the DV. To his thinking, this confirmed my guilt."
Troy Lawrence: "Which makes sense...that
you fled, I mean." He nods, understanding.
Sadie Blackfoot: "Thereafter I avoided the
sept for a good while, continuing my work with Mr. Dunn. About this time the
news was splashed with a wake of killings by one Double Charlie." Watches him
closely.
Troy Lawrence: "I do recall Double Charlie,
yes." Perfectly calm still, watching her.
Sadie Blackfoot: "The victims of those
murders were all members of the DV."
Troy Lawrence: He pauses, watching her.
"Miss Blackfoot...are you telling me that you killed all of them?" Impressed or
disapproving, it's hard to tell. He's got a good poker face.
Sadie Blackfoot: He catches on quicker
than she'd like. "Five of them. Three garou and two kin. I used Double Charlie's
m.o. so the police wouldn't look too closely for anyone else." That subtle
tension returning to her frame, as she admits to hunting down and murdering
garou, however wyrm tainted.
Troy Lawrence: "I see." He nods, taking a
deep breath. "Continue."
Sadie Blackfoot: "A man named Dawitt
roused the sept and led an attack that took out the rest of them. That was the
night I brought your kinsmen in the van. I was... involved in the strike."
Troy Lawrence: He nods. Rumors of the
strike reached the Sept, of course...and reached his ears, and though her
involvement did not, the coincidence did not go unnoticed.
Sadie Blackfoot: "I was the only person
in the strike with much knowledge of first aid. I removed the silver from the
wounded that they might heal, collected your kin and brought them to you. Yet my
deeds were unknown, and I remained a pariah. One member of the DV, the cell
leader, a man named Badger, was never discovered. It seemed prudent to lay low
for sometime, so I told no one what I had done... until recently."
Troy Lawrence: "I see. And that brings us
to the present?"
Sadie Blackfoot: "I'm afraid I made yet
another tactical error between then and now."
Troy Lawrence: "Ahh."
Sadie Blackfoot: "Isolated from kith
and kin for so long, I felt vulnerable and, to be honest, quite alone. I decided
I would attempt to clear my name."
Troy Lawrence: "And how was this a tactical
error?" Stubbing the cigarette out in the ashtray and relighting another one.
Troy Lawrence: ((Lighting, not
relighting. The man's rich, he doesn't need to do re-fries. *G*))
Sadie Blackfoot: Arches a brow as though
it should be obvious. At the time she was blind to it. Weak. Lonely. She should
have sooner slit her own wrists. "I called upon Mr.
Troy Lawrence: He frowns somewhat,
watching her. Mention of a full moon could not have been a good thing. "Mister
who? And what happened?"
Sadie Blackfoot: ((Slaps computer)) "Mr.
Aerin Thomas."
Troy Lawrence: A deep frown. He's heard
that name before, spoken in rumors, and in the rumblings of his packmates.
Despite rumors both good and bad, he does not seem fond of the man over all."
Sadie Blackfoot: "As it turns out, I
have put down more members of the DV than any single member of the sept. An
embarassment to be sure. I told them I wished to clear my name, and explained
the situation. I showed them scars I'd incurred as evidence of participation in
battle. Bliss accused me of attempting to garner pity and sympathy." Her eyes
darkening. She would have challenged him on the spot if she were trueborn. As it
was she was lucky to have walked out of the apartment whole. "I tactfully did
not inquire if that was moots were all about when my betters did such,
given the state of the moon, and instead explained that I was garnering
sympathy, but wished for Aerin to sing my deeds, that I might clear my name once
and for all."
Sadie Blackfoot: ((was NOT garnering
sympathy))
Troy Lawrence: "An understandable position
for you to take."
Sadie Blackfoot: "They both refused and
Aerin said Mr. Culligan would the appropriate person for me to approach. I
expressed to them, that he seemed an unlikely candidate given my disobedience
towards him. Aerin insisted he was a fair man and said he and Bliss would
approach him on my behalf. Needless to say, they did not. However I did. My
third mistake." A hint of annoyance with herself.
Troy Lawrence: He frowns deeply at that. It
pretty well confirms what he has heard about the two of them. "I see...somehow,
I am not surprised. Mr. Thomas has...not the best reputation around the Sept,
and I have heard less then glowing things about Bliss."
Sadie Blackfoot: She resists the urge to
express her opinion regarding Bliss, lest it cost her a portion of her spine
next time he sees her. "I assumed Mr. Culligan, given our unfortunate past
encounters, would at the very least have questions, and would further require I
speak before a Truthcatcher. I told him, in even greater detail than I'm
speaking now, all the events that transpired since I arrived in New York, right
down to how I felt at the time and my personal motives. I was unerringly frank
with him."
Sadie Blackfoot: Yet another mistake.
Never tell the truth. Oh, and here you are doing it again.
Troy Lawrence: "And, I assume, he did not
do as you hoped."
Sadie Blackfoot: "At first he
misunderstood my reasons for speaking. And assumed I wished him to help me
apologize for my behavior, what I'd done and who I am. When I made it clear what
I wanted he said I insulted his kin, Catie and Brianna. Insinuated my mistake
was not abandoning my tribe because everyone knows Shadow Lords are deceitful
liars, and that I never should have gone to one in the first place for aid, and
that a mule had honor than I. It seems he doesn't like Shadow Lords or their
kin."
Sadie Blackfoot: ((had MORE honor))
Sadie Blackfoot: "He also was incensed
that I had killed garou. Asked me how I did it, and said any kin that carried
silver could never be trusted."
Troy Lawrence: "Hmmm." He frowns. The Tribe
does have that reputation...but still. "Is there anything else to all this?"
Sadie Blackfoot: She offers him a
mirthless smile. "Isn't that enough?"
Troy Lawrence: "Just trying to get your
complete side of the story, Miss Blackfoot." He nods to her, ashing in the
ashtray. "I will see what I can do to resolve this."
Sadie Blackfoot: "That is all of it."
Her eyes flicker towards him, meeting his briefly. "Do you think I am wrong to
seek renown for my actions?"
Troy Lawrence: "No, I do not. You have
certainly done enough to earn it." Even for a kin, though he doesn't say that.
Sadie Blackfoot: (*L* Damned garou!
They get renown if they break a toe nail in service to Gaia!)
Sadie Blackfoot: "It is unfortunate that
my participation in these matters has gone beyond what is seemly for a kin. I
had five children once. The Darabka Ver took them from me. Vengeance was mine to
seek."
Troy Lawrence: "Of course, Miss Blackfoot."
He nods.
Sadie Blackfoot: "Whatever aide you can
render in this matter is greatly appreciated. I would not see my husband's name
carry the stigma of my unseemly deeds."
Troy Lawrence: "I will do what I can to
claim renown for you, and see to it that those who are shadowing your name get
what they deserve, as well."
Sadie Blackfoot: That rings an
alarm. "Mr. Lawrence, I am not seeking to set blame, nor disgrace the sept or
any other individuals. The DV were at fault and they have paid. Aerin has been
generous of nature and deed, not would I see him slandered. The two kin, I'm
sure were doing what they believed in their hearts was best. I was not
forthcoming in my early time here. I had reason. I was trying to protect my
children. Secrecy is no longer of benefit to me. But I should not like to
embarass the sept. My goal is quite simply to clear my name, without harm to any
others."
Troy Lawrence: He considers this, frowning
slightly, but nods. "Miss Blackfoot...have you met the Warder for the Sept of
the Green, Yolanda Shield-Heart?"
Sadie Blackfoot: Notably she leaves Bliss
out of the disclaimers. But likely he'll fall under 'others' regardless. "No,
sir. I have not."
Troy Lawrence: "You should. She is quite
protective of Kinfolk herself." He nods. "I know how to proceed, Miss
Blackfoot."
Sadie Blackfoot: She rises slowly. "I rely
upon your discretion." Her eyes drift to the credit card on the desk, and she
picks it up, holding it in easy reach for him. "And since I am in your employ?"
Troy Lawrence: A little smile, and he nods,
waving a hand permissively. "Of course." He rises as well, moving to get the
door for her. "Do you require a ride anywhere?"
Sadie Blackfoot: The credit card vanishes
into her coat. "I can find my way. Thank you."
Troy Lawrence: "Of course." He nods. "Be
sure to get back to me, let me know about this kin of my Tribe's. I do wish to
aid there."
Sadie Blackfoot: "I shall." A hint of a
bow, and she slips out the door.
Troy Lawrence: He shuts the door behind
her, sighing deeply. Kinfolk. A shake of the head, and he moves back to his
desk, to clear his schedule. He has a busy week ahead of him.
